Preschool Classroom St. Patrick’s Day Week Ideas

My preschool classroom for St. Patrick’s Day week was always a class favorite. These easy preschool classroom St. Patrick Day week ideas are inexpensive and add to the festive fun this month. The green and gold sensory bin and a few themed activities are a great beginning to St. Patrick’s Day week.

St. Patrick’s Day Sensory Bin

My St. Patrick’s Day sensory bin is a leprechaun’s paradise. Green oats and gold kernels are easy to prepare.

Green Oats

Supplies:

  • 4 C uncooked oatmeal
  • 4 TBSP vanilla or rubbing alcohol
  • Green food coloring drops

In large sealed plastic bag, shake oatmeal and vanilla or rubbing alcohol. When oats are fully equally coated, open bag and add several drops of green food coloring. Reseal bag and shake until oats are evenly colored. Spread green oats on cooking sheet and allow to air dry before adding to your St. Patrick’s Day sensory bin.

Gold Kernels

Ingredients:

  • 2 C popcorn kernels
  • 4 oz Mod Podge
  • 2 TBSP water
  • fine gold glitter

In a sealed plastic bag, shake popcorn kernels, Mod Podge and water until kernels are equally coated. Open bag and add fine gold glitter. Reseal and shake. Spread gold kernels on foil lined baking sheet and allow to air dry before adding to your St. Patrick’s Day sensory bin.

Combine green oats and gold kernels in your preschool classroom St. Patrick’s Day week sensory tub. Add measuring tools for all day play and exploration.

I’m no longer teaching in a classroom but am using these preschool classroom St. Patrick’s Day week ideas at home with my youngest daughter. She is almost three years old and loves all hands on learning projects, especially those with glitter!

  2. The shamrock printables are so cute! They are a great way to teach how to color in the lines without it being too hard. I don’t have little ones but your project ideas seem both fun and educational.
