Show Your Teacher Appreciation with Nail Polish Treats

Being a preschool teacher, I really look forward to Teacher Appreciation Week.  To everyone’s surprise, It’s not because of all the presents.  I love Teacher Appreciation Week because it’s an entire week full of genuine and sincere thank you’s from parents that don’t always have the time to share how appreciative they are for the time you spend with their children. Teacher Appreciation Week is coming to an end but today I’m sharing a fun gift that any teacher is sure to love.

Show Your Teacher Appreciation with Nail Polish Treats

Nail Polish Treats are not something I created, you can find them all over Pinterest and featured in many of the recent Sally Hansen Nail Art home parties.  Last month I attended Pink Cake Plate’s Pamper Me Nail Party with Sally Hansen and absolutely adored her treats.

My four year old daughter and I had so much fun making these simple treats.

Ingredients:

  • 24 large marshmallows
  • 8 oz white chocolate melting chips
  • 2 tbsp milk (not pictured)
  • tootsie rolls
  • food  dye (not pictured)

I added milk to the white chocolate chips and melted them in the microwave for approximately two minutes stirring at 30 second intervals.

Then I mixed in a very small amount of food coloring to the melted chocolate.  Stir until completely smooth and then add a few ice cubes.  Common sense will tell you dipping marshmallows into scalding hot chocolate will not result in cute nail polish bottles.  I used a wooden skewer to dip the marshmallows and completely cover them in chocolate.

Put a tootsie roll on top for the lid and allow to dry on a foil lined baking sheet.

I placed the treats in the refrigerator over night.  This morning they pulled off the foil easily. To avoid a messy treat I put each individual nail polish bottle in a small cupcake liner.  I added a cute print next to the plate for all the teachers to enjoy.

Teacher Appreciation Week - a gift for a polished teacher

If you’re short on time you could skip the treats and simply share nail polishes with the print on a card.   If you want big teacher bonus points, give the nail polish treats and a bottle of polish!

It’s really not about the gifts.  Take a moment to give a sincere thank you to the teachers that are spending time with your children and nourishing their love for learning!

To all those teachers out there, Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Fairytale Brownies Magic Morsels {Bite Size Tasteful Temptations} Giveaway

If you live in Arizona you are probably already familiar with Fairytale Brownies, one of my favorite local businesses.  Their story is great and shares why they are committed to bringing an unbelievably high level of customer services while sharing their delicious brownies!

Having a four year old daughter that loves sweets, it’s difficult for me to keep any treats in our pantry at home.  I have a completely different perspective on brownies in our house after receiving a box of Magic Morsels recently.

I was ecstatic when I saw the package arrive at my doorstep.

I quickly opened it to reveal the pretty box full of my favorite sweets – chocolate brownies!

I especially love Fairytale Brownies because each brownie comes individually wrapped. It definitely makes it easier to avoid eating more than one serving at a time.  The Magic Morsels are perfect for my family because they are small bite size treats.  My husband and I are very focused on eating healthy this year and this small serving size is perfect for us.  Additionally, these brownies are just the right size for my daughter too.

The Magic Morsels come in assorted flavors.  My box came with Original, Caramel, Cream Cheese, Chocolate Chip, Rasberry Swirl, and Walnut.

Although I probably should have just tasted one, I couldn’t really pass by the opportunity to taste test all the flavors.  Can you guess my favorite?

They are all incredible but my favorite flavor is caramel.

My daughter’s preschool has a very strict healthy lunch policy so we will not be sending brownies to school but these are the perfect bite size treat after dinner at home.

Shrinky Dink Necklace – watch me on the SheKnows Daily Dish {video tutorial}

Do you remember the super cute “I am thankful for…” Shrinky Dink Necklace I shared at Mom Endeavors last year?

Mom Endeavors Cornucopia of Creativity, Brie Brie Blooms Shrinky Dink Thankful NecklaceMy daughter and I will be making a few this week to send to grandparents for Valentine’s Day.  Instead of using the thankful theme, we are making “I love you because” necklaces.

A few weeks ago I co-hosted an entire week of the SheKnows TV Daily Dish show.  Each day I shared a fun and easy kids craft.  I had a great time teaching the host, Cathy Rankin, and her daughter how to make a journal page shrinky dink necklace charm.
