When it comes to pushing physical boundaries, my eight year old daughter has no limits. She excels at everything she tries and is extremely competitive when she makes a personal commitment. We thought hockey would be her sport but she’s taken on a new love with rock climbing and hasn’t looked back. From spending a few summer camps in the climbing gym to now just a couple of years later, she’s on a competitive team holding her weight well with much more experienced and older young athletes. She has team practice for several hours twice a week and is required to clock personal climbing hours in the gym. Hydration for young athletes is so important, especially when she’s spending so much time depleting her energy with physical activities. BODYARMOR from Kroger is the perfect hydration for young athletes because it’s a premium sports drink with no artificial flavors or sweeteners. The drink has potassium-packed electrolytes, coconut water and vitamins making it a great bottle to grab and toss into my daughter‘s rock climbing bag before practice each week. This week BODYARMOR sent us a cooler bag full of their sports drink to sponsor and help facilitate this post so my daughter was able to bring some flavors she hadn’t tried yet to the gym with her.
We are not a rock climbing family but have learned about the sport through the process of our daughter’s enthusiasm to participate on a team. She was invited to try out for the team before she was old enough because of the potential she displayed during summer camp. A year later, she’s much stronger, mature and skilled in her climbs. It’s been an unbelievable journey watching her body change and grow as she is getting physically and mentally stronger in the gym. BODYARMOR water is a premium sport water designed by athletes, for athletes. My daughter was excited to learn the brand has an impressive team of young athlete ambassadors including James Harden, Mike Trout, Dustin Johnson, Andrew Luck, Richard Sherman, Dez Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Buster Posey, Skylar Diggins and several others.
At only eight, she recently moved from a team practicing with peers closer to her own age to the competitive team with older teammates. She’s not quite lead climbing yet but she is doing more bouldering on higher walls. That means she’s climbing without ropes and developing muscle strength in places you wouldn’t know how to strength train otherwise. She has strong wrists and her core is more defined everyday.
It always amazes me how she just gets up and climbs without any visible fear. Sometimes I see her pausing for a second to evaluate what’s ahead. That pause never comes with a face of fear, instead it looks to me like she’s strategizing a complicated math problem. This fearless girl is so much more brave than I ever was at her age.
Hydration for young athletes is about more than a drink when you’re thirsty. Hydration for young athletes is about quenching a thirst for adventure. My daughter drinks BODYARMOUR because it tastes good and keeps her going through those long tough practices every week.
BODYARMOR is available at select Kroger stores in 9-great tasting flavors: fruit punch, orange mango, strawberry banana, tropical punch, blackout berry, mixed berry, grape, watermelon strawberry and lemonade.
