Dad for President

Dad for President

I’m a mom of two daughters and feel a great weight on my shoulders to teach them to always stand up for themselves. Our children are loved, so loved and everyday they wake up and go to bed knowing they are loved. They are safe and secure and happy. Their physical and emotional needs are taken care of and I know they are empowered to truly believe they can be anything they want when they grow up. That confidence, that unmatched joy, that enthusiasm for everyday is the magical world my daughters know in our home. And because of that I won’t tell my daughters the real reasons why I didn’t feel good about either candidate before voting for the President of the United States. Our first female President should be celebrated as should an entrepreneur with dreams of becoming leader to our country. My daughters should be learning about the electoral process and the great faith we put in Americans to make good decisions for us, not about corruption and deceit. It’s still as true today as it was the day we played at the park before the presidential election. When you’re little, Dad for President is the best idea ever. But even when you’re grown up, sometimes Dad for President doesn’t sound too bad either.

Dad for President is a great idea when you're little.

The only thing that could make this Children’s Place “Dad for President” shirt cuter is if it declared a vote for mom instead.

This Dad for President shirt is the cutest!

I hope your day included a visit to your local voting poll and a few minutes at the playground to remind yourself of the great place we live, where anyone can be anything they want to be.

Dad for President is an excellent idea.

What was the best part of your day today?

  1. Love the tshirt and your adorable daughter wearing it. Totally agree that ‘Mom for President’ would be a better option! Who knows…she may turn out to be a future President!

  2. I truly believe that if a person is worthy for getting a vote, they should get the vote. Not because they are a celebrity, not because they are a woman or a man, not because they have the same or different sexual orientation than mine, it should only be because they are an ideal candidate. I want a woman president but a woman president who is worthy of my vote. Someday soon I hope to see that and as we progress forward, I know we will. Your girls can be that president. In this world, we can be whatever we want because we are all equal. I think Mom or Dad for President would be wonderful.

  3. I like to tell my children too, they can be anything they want to be. But they also have the responsibility to stand up for the oppressed. There won’t be a way for everyone to be whatever we want to be if the people at the top take away their basic human rights.

  5. I love the message in this little black tee shirt wore by this beautiful princess. I am not living in the states but my ex-boss in US just posted a photo of himself voting in a local school.

  6. I think people put too much emotion in voting these days instead of looking at facts. For instance, I had a friend post how great it was that a YOUNG, HISPANIC, WOMAN won a place in congress, yesterday. I’m not from that region, so I don’t know what’s she’s about, but I hope that he voted for her because she has great ideas and promise and not just because she’s young, a woman, and a person of color (which is how he phrased it). I mean, it’s good that she is because it’s changing things positively, but I hope she’s also qualified for that position too.
