Crabby Snack Sandwiches

I sent snacks with my daughter to preschool again yesterday.  This week her class is learning about crustaceans so I thought it would be fun to make a crab shaped snack.  My daughter was so excited to share crabby snack sandwiches with her classmates!

Our crab shaped cookie cutter is from Wilton’s 50 piece animal pals cutter set

The cookie cutter is plastic and would not cut through an entire sandwich so I cut each piece individually – two slices of bread, cheese, and turkey.

I used marshmallows and raisins to give each crab two eyes.

Put your sandwich together and you have a fun snack to share with friends!

Octopus Snacks

Today it was my daughter’s turn to bring snacks to preschool.  The classroom has been ocean themed this week so I thought it would be fun to bring in something related.  Octopus snacks were perfect!

Ingredients:
-peanut butter
-ritz crackers
-pretzel sticks
-raisins

Apply a thin layer of peanut butter to the back of two crackers.  Stick eight pretzel “tentacles” in the peanut butter on one of the crackers.  Then put the other cracker on top (peanut butter side down).

Use peanut butter to attach two raisin “eyes”.

Now have some fun eating your octopus snacks or sharing with friends!

"Fish in the Pond" Preschool Snacks

I was so excited when I saw it was my daughter’s turn to bring snacks to her preschool class.  I started a “preschool snack ideas” board because I had so much fun finding cute ideas online.  The board only has a few pins but it was a good start.  I showed my daughter the pictures and asked which snack she would like to share with her friends.  She picked the goldfish in the pond rice cakes.  They were fun to make, healthy, and yummy!

Ingredients:
-goldfish crackers
-rice cakes
-blue food coloring (I used gel)
-whipped cream cheese

Start by mixing your blue dye into the cream cheese.  I used about half the tube of gel.

Spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto each rice cake.

Top the cream cheese with goldfish and you’re done.

Tip: If your goldfish have smiley faces be sure to face them upright or you will end up with a pond full of dead fish!

My daughter told me her friends loved this fun snack.

Confession: while making these I ate a rice cake with a little cream cheese and loved it too!
