The Color Run 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour comes to Tempe January 25 {giveaway}

The Color Run disclosure

My New Years resolutions always include fitness and spending more quality time with family. While I didn’t officially make a New Years resolution this year, I certainly plan to maintain a healthy exercise routine and commit to arranging more physical outings for my family. The The Color Run 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour will be the first step in the right direction. Family fun while working on my fitness goals is the perfect way to start the new year!

I participated in The Color Run 2013 with local blogging friends. It was my first time experiencing the fun 5K. The weather in Tempe last year was unusually cold and wet but didn’t deter too many participants from joining in the fun.

My husband also participated and by the end of the run we were completely covered in color!

Last year all participants received a shirt and headband. This year the gear is even better and includes a sling bag and bracelet too.

In 2013 The Color Run hosted more than 170 events in over 30 countries. You want to be part of this fun event in 2014!

If this is your first time participating you probably have quite a few questions. If you’re not a seasoned runner, don’t worry! The 5K is not timed and has participants at many different fitness levels. While passing each kilometer, participants are “doused” in color. From my experience last year, I can share that the color washes completely out of your clothing and off your body. We brought a change of clothes and towels to avoid any color getting on the car interior after the run. Also remember to bring a plastic or waterproof bag to carry your personal belongings (phone, camera, etc.). This was particularly important last year because of the rain. I’m guessing the sling bag included in the participant gear will be perfect for carrying any personal items while you run.

The Color Run is a family friendly event. Children under the age of 6 are free and do not require registration. Last year I saw many families walking and running with a stroller. My five year old daughter will be participating with us this year and is looking forward to the event. I anticipate taking much longer to make it through the entire race this year but can’t wait for the fun family memories!
