The recent addition of personalized bottles with names and terms of endearment is adding to the fun when you share a Coke with the ones you love. This summer Coca-Cola brought the nationwide Share a Coke event to Walmart stores. The event was an opportunity for everyone to share a Coke with their favorite friends and family. Seeing the excitement for the new Coke bottles with your name on them had me shopping for the fun cans and bottles before I attended the nationwide event. The timing of the release of the cans and bottles came at a perfect time to share with my family as my youngest brother came home to visit just a few days before he was deployed to Afghanistan with the ARMY. This summer sharing a Coke means so much more than just drinking a cold drink with friends. This summer I was able to share a Coke with my youngest brother before he left to serve our country overseas.

The nationwide Share a Coke event was held July 6, 2014 at Walmart stores. My husband and I joined the fun and shared a “family” bottle of Diet Coke. During the event I was able to chat with the representatives giving personalized Coke cans to all the guests. I had fun sharing a Coke with my new friends.

The Share a Coke event showcased the many different cans and bottles available. The variety of names and phrases had guests searching for their names and spreading happiness by sharing with friends and family.

My youngest brother is in the ARMY and until this week, his last visit home was for his wedding over a year ago. While we all loved the special visit from him and his family, it came with the sad news he would be leaving to spend a year in Afghanistan away from his pregnant wife and their son. The thought of my youngest brother being so far away from everyone he loves is not easy, but we definitely made the most of his visit home.

A barbecue to celebrate my brother home was the perfect reason to share a Coke with friends and family.

We all enjoyed seeing how much my nephew has grown since their last visit home. He just adores my brother and it was awesome seeing their close bond as they played together.

During the barbecue I gave my brother a “BFF” Coke. Coca-Cola has so much more meaning to my brother and I because we were able to Share a Coke before his deployment.

You can share a Coke with your favorite friends and family too! For me, each time I see the fun bottles I’ll remember the last time I saw my brother before he left to Afghanistan.
