We made it through our move and are finally starting to get back to a normal routine in a new home. Our fast moving routine isn’t slowing down and we want to make sure our daughters have great memories of their first season in our new home. Arizona temperatures are still pretty warm so fall here isn’t the same as all those picturesque magazines I’m seeing in my mailbox. Most pumpkin patch experiences near us are family owned farms selling pumpkins but nonetheless, they always host a great fall festival with fun for the entire family including corn mazes, hayrides and petting farms. Coming off of the busiest and most physically exhausting couple of months, my body is still in recovery mode. We’re almost done unpacking boxes and getting things situated in the new home but every morning I wake up with new aches and pains I don’t remember feeling the night before. Dr. Scholl’s Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts from Walmart have kept me on my feet and moving through these weeks with many activities planned in addition to my normal work schedule and brutal attempt to get our house unboxed faster than any other move we’ve experienced. Big sister doesn’t know but this week I planned some daytime fun for little sister and I at a local farm. My pumpkin patch farm festival tips include everything you need to plan the best day soaking up all that pumpkin spice and hayride goodness.
Dr. Scholl’s® advanced FootMapping® technology uses over 2,000 pressure sensors to create your Custom Footmap identifying your arch type, foot length and unique pressure points. In under 2 minutes at a personal evaluation kiosk in Walmart you learn which Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts are right for you. Say goodbye to the days of standing in front of a long aisle reading packaging hoping you’re not spending on something that really won’t make a difference. Custom Fit® Orthotics provide clinically proven immediate and all day pain relief for foot, knee, or lower back pain from being on your feet so wearing them to an all day fall festival was a priority this week.
Little sister was so excited to go to a fall festival with me while our oldest daughter was at school. At two years old everything is magical to her and I’ve heard no complaints about all the forts we’ve built out of empty boxes while unpacking our home this month. She’s been the best little partner during the busy days getting our new home situated but we were both looking forward to a day away from all the boxes.
Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival Tips
Purchase tickets online.
Spontaneous fall festival visits are fun but with just a little advanced planning purchasing your tickets online can save on the purchase price. For us, local family farms don’t always have the option of purchasing online but most do have a printable coupon to use when you arrive.
Wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate clothing.
Although we still are in shorts and flip flops daily here, closed toed shoes are important when visiting a fall festival. Some hayrides don’t permit sandals and hay doesn’t feel good on little toddler toes. The farm we visited had inflatables where children could play without shoes. Socks and slip ons were ideal for the day because little sister could easily take her shoes off and put them back on all by herself to move to the different festival activities.
Make it a learning opportunity.
You’re there to have fun but I always make every experience a learning opportunity. Little sister and I talked a lot about the what happens at the farm when all the visitors go home. We guessed how many chickens lived there and pointed out the big tires on the tractor.
Go on rides.
Little sister couldn’t wait for her turn on the “cow train.” Our admission to the farm included all the rides so we made sure we tried everything at least once.
Visit the animals.
If your fall festival includes a petting zoo or is on an actual working farm be sure to take the time to see the animals. This is an excellent learning opportunity for children and was little sister’s favorite activity of the day.
Walk through the corn maze.
Visiting during the day pretty much guaranteed the corn maze was family friendly and not spooky.
She was happily up for the challenge and wanted to lead the way through the corn maze.
This is where my tired feet would have turned us right back around if I hadn’t been wearing Dr. Scholl’s Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts. They are comprised of four layers with each providing a different benefit. Together the layers provide support and cushioning that are custom fitted to your feet and provide all-day comfort. Getting lost in the corn maze for what little sister decided was “16 hours,” really wasn’t that bad after all.
Some of the most beautiful views on the farm were the ones we noticed on our own. A field of sunflowers under the bluest sky and bright Arizona sun was a great reminder that even though we don’t have traditional color changing fall seasons, fall in the desert is pretty spectacular.
Find the perfect pumpkin.
A piggy back ride out of the corn maze, spending a quarter on a sucker at the concession stand and picking out the perfect pumpkin completed our great day together.
I didn’t know pain in your lower back and knees sometimes originates from your feet. Properly dispersing your foot pressure can reduce the pressure on your knees and lower back. Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Kiosk uses over 2,000 pressure sensors to evaluate your arch type, foot length and unique pressure points in less than two minutes.

We are all about the fall festivals in our family. There are hundreds of orchards, farms and pumpkin patches around here so there are no shortage of festivals in the fall.
So many fun things to do at pumpkin patches. Definitely dress for the weather. No fun freezing your bootie off while trying to walk through a corn maze. And those little fuzzy sneakers are super cute 🙂
This pumpkin patch visit looks so cute! & I’m sure Dr. Scholl’s footwear must really help with all the walking and chasing little kids!
Your daughters pumpkin patch attire looks like what we would wear in Florida! 🙂 I have been meaning to step on that machine in the store and figure out which insole I am for years. I’d love a great pair that are made for my feet.
We love the pumpkin patch! It definitely is a lot of walking. I always try to remember for us to wear comfortable shoes and to bring a jacket too.
My pumpkin patch advice is don’t take my son, he is the worst. I guess we went one or two years too early, hopefully he comes to enjoy it!
I’d love to be in the states around Halloween so I can go to a pumpkin patch! Sounds like heaps of fun and great for the kids too!
That’s really awesome! I’m glad you’re getting through all the boxes, hopefully you’re all good before November ends! I’m sure the little one had an amazing time there!
It is nice to take the little ones to the Festival or a pumpkin patch or petting zoo. I see how great those Dr. Scholl’s inserts are so I will look into them.
I gotta spend Halloween in America one of these years, I love all the cute traditions like visiting pumpkin patches and celebrating halloween the way you do!
I love going to all of the Fall festivals, but there really is so much walking. Good shoes are a must, and those inserts look wonderful! I need to try them out because I haven’t found any that I really like yet.
What a fun trip! I agree, good shoes can make or break an event like this one. The cornstalk pictures, though, right?? Adorable.
This is really good experience for the little kids! It’s the perfect way to create memories while they’re young. I’m glad you took your daughter here.
Having comfy shoes is SO key when you’re hitting up a fall festival. These Dr. Scholl’s Custom Fit inserts look AMAZING.
As a mom, comfy shoes are a must when you have to follow after the kids! I love this Dr Scholls product, it has worked wonders on my feet!
This is so cute! And I love all the tips, specially the comfy shoes one because it is so true. Nothing worse than walking with a pair of shoes that are uncomfortable!
I have been dying to go to a pumpkin patch this season, but every weekend the calendar gets packed with other stuff. This does look like so much fun, for both kids and adults.
The pumpkin patch is so much fun but yes it is so much walking!! You have to wear comfy shoes and definitely dress for the weather.
Pumpkin patches can be a lot of fun, but you do need the right shoes. It’s amazing how tired your feet can become after walking from activity to activity.
Your pumpkin patch looks so fun!! We have one that has some of the same things, but yours is top notch!!
Going to the pumpkin patch is such fun! It’s definitely one of our family traditions.
My family and I didn’t get to go to a pumpkin patch this year, but maybe next year. Pumpkin patches are definitely fun to go to, though!
