Our eight year old daughter is very adventurous so it was no surprise to us that she noticed the tall thin building being constructed as we drove multiple times each week to her rock climbing team practice earlier this year in Scottsdale, Arizona. Construction was completed and she was ecstatic when she noticed the iFly Indoor Skydiving logo had been added to the side of the attraction. “WHEN CAN WE GO SKYDIVING?” So naturally there was no question on how I should respond to an email from iFly asking if my daughter and I would like to visit for complimentary indoor skydiving. One year ago today, my thrill seeker daughter had me ziplining in Kauai and just a couple of weeks ago, we crossed skydiving off our bucket list too. iFly Indoor Skydiving Phoenix is fun for all ages and was a wonderful experience.
After the quick check in process, we went upstairs to the flight deck where we observed the wind tunnel. The vertical wind tunnel is a large enclosed tunnel with fans at the top to draw air through the flight chamber. The smooth column of air creates a safe environment to comfortably fly.
There are many different levels of fliers visiting iFLY. As beginners, my daughter and I were very excited for the experience. Unsure of what to expect, I wasn’t nervous but rather curious. My entire life, skydiving had been on my bucket list and now here I was watching my eight year old daughter beam with enthusiasm as we experienced this together. Watching the talented iFly Phoenix instructors perform together only added to her excitement for her first flight.
Our group was called for a flight training session where we watched a video and learned from our certified flight instructor. Then we were provided our flight suits, helmets, glasses and earplugs. All personal belongings were placed in a locker.
13 guests were assigned to our group time and we all entered the seating area of the wind tunnel together. Each guest entered the wind tunnel with the instructor individually 2 times. The first flight was introductory with our instructor using hand signals for communication. The visual cues were used to remind us of posture, leg position, and to relax. Our instructor helped keep us balanced and comfortable while in the wind tunnel. During the second flight we had the option of flying higher in the tunnel. There was no question if my daughter wanted to fly high.
She loved the experience.
Our instructor, like all the iFLY instructors, made the guests comfortable and communicated with us throughout the entire visit. He was fun and provided a great environment for our first experience at iFLY!
Following your flight, each guest receives a complimentary personalized flight certificate. You can also purchase pictures and videos taken from inside the wind tunnel. The pictures and videos remain online for later purchase too.
We stayed at the event for a little while watching other fliers and taking pictures in the photo booth. This was a perfect mother daughter night for my adventurous girl!
Before we left my daughter purchased a shirt so she could show her friends she had gone indoor skydiving. She also made sure to pick up information about their weekly kids team!
Indoor skydiving is a must try experience for the adventure seeking family. I would never try traditional skydiving with my children but this was an opportunity for my daughter to join in the fun and although I’ve wanted to do it much longer than her entire little life, she probably enjoyed it more than I did. Is anyone surprised we found another action sport she loves?

This looks so fun! I hope my kids are thrill seekers like I am. Sky diving has been on my bucket list for some time and I think this would be a good start before going full force and jumping out of a plane.
Wow, your daughter is brave. I could never have done that at 8-years-old. But then again, I’ve never been the adventure seeker (well, at least when it comes to heights.) Your daughter looks so happy in all the pics. She must have had a great time.
Looks like you had a blast! Thanks for sharing all the pictures and videos.
This is so cool, and it looks like you had the best time! I’ve always wanted to skydive just haven’t got round to it/never been brave enpugh. This seems like a great way to bridge that gap.
That’s so amazing omg. I have seen these in movies and etc but I’ve always wanted to try them out for myself!
This looks like such a fun activity. I dont know about real sky diving, but this one i think will give many people a chance to experience how sky diving feels. Great pics.
looks like so much fun. my husband has been DYING to do something like this but I am so chicken, I think indoor I could do though!
This was so cool to see! I’ve always wanted to do this but haven’t had the chance yet – thank you so much for sharing your experience! If I ever find myself in Phoenix I’ll have to try it.
