Yesterday we made FROZEN charm necklaces and little sister hasn’t taken hers off since, unless you count overnight when I had to wait until she was asleep to sneak it away. The easy shrink film charms were printed on our new HP Envy 7640, an awesome printer we just received as a welcome to the HP Smart Mom Panel. The shrink film does not claim to be appropriate for print at home projects but the Envy made it easy to create our FROZEN charms.Disney On Ice Dream Big in Phoenix was a great surprise for our daughters and the necklaces added to the excitement knowing they would see Anna and Elsa.
FROZEN Charm Necklaces – How to Print on Shrink Film
Supplies:
- Shrink film like this Shrinky Dinks Creative Pack 10 Sheets Crystal Clear (affiliate link)
- Home printer
- hole punch
- necklace chain and jump ring
Print the 5 x 7″ FROZEN Charm Necklace printable on shiny side of shrink film. Please note shrink film instructions advise drawing on non shiny side with permanent markers or pencils. Do not follow package instructions as the ink will print blurred on the non shiny side. Ink will be wet so carefully cut around the designs and place a hole punch at the top center of each charm. Place printed side up on brown paper and then on cookie sheet.
Bake in oven preheated to 350 degrees for two minutes. Charms will shrink and appear to distort; they should be almost flat when you remove them from the oven. Do not over bake. As charms cool they will flatten.
Because the charms were printed with a home printer on the shiny surface of the shrink film, apply one coat of clear nail polish to the top of each charm to seal in the color.
Use a jump ring to place the charms on a necklace. The FROZEN charm necklaces were a perfect accessory for a night out at Disney On Ice. My daughters loved watching the show and their favorite magical moment was Anna and Elsa skating under falling snow together.
Little sister wore her new Olaf necklace to the park and played with her Disney on Ice FROZEN wand for hours today.
