We celebrated my daughter’s fifth birthday with a creepy crawly birthday party. Instead of purchasing invitations and matching thank you cards, I created my own using PicMonkey. During the party we had a fun bug and reptile show resulting in my daughter receiving two pet Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. With my daughter’s love for her new pets, a cockroach on the thank you cards was perfect.
The free printable to the creepy crawly birthday party thank you notes is at the bottom of this post but I’m also sharing a short tutorial on how they were created. I use PicMonkey, the free editing site, a lot for personal projects. I also do a majority of my quick photo edits there. When creating something specific, I usually use images I have saved to my own computer. I added grass to a white background to start the creepy crawly thank you card design.
Then I added the “thank you” text. Changing font, color, and size is easy with many options.
Next I added the cockroach. The image I used had excessive white space that covered the text. The eraser function in the overlay box makes it easy to erase the parts of the image you want removed. I erased the white space around the cockroach that was covering the text.
Save the image to your computer to print later.
Tip: I save my creations in steps so I can use them again in various stages (i.e., with out text, etc.).
Print the cards from your home printer!
Download the pdf below for easy printing. The image is already sized to fit 8 1/2″ by 11″ paper. Fold the paper in half and trim the edges for the perfect 4″ x 6″ creepy crawly thank you card!
Print to be used for personal use only.
