The five hour drive to San Diego from Arizona is never an inconvenience because my family enjoys spending time in Southern California and my daughter loves every opportunity to be at the beach. During a recent visit to SeaWorld, we stayed at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego. The beautiful property is a lush tropical getaway completely taking you away from the sounds of the city. From the moment you drive onto the property you are surrounded by palm trees and lush greens. The resort is a 44 acre island complete with recreation, dining, and spa for you to enjoy.
We checked in to our bayside bungalow and were impressed by our own private parking spot. We drove right up to the bungalow and couldn’t wait to start enjoying the Mission Bay view. Each bungalow has a private patio with access to the sandy beach.
The bungalow is a very comfortable way to relax in Southern California with a great view of Mission Bay. The residential style accommodations include a living room with sleeper sofa, separate bedroom, and dining area with wet bar. Another unique amenity is the bathroom with two separate vanity areas and multiple hair dryers. For families with multiple girls, this is great!
We spent some time at the main pool after checking in. The resort has five different pools and can be enjoyed all year with the warm California weather. My daughter really enjoyed the beach entrance and made a few friends while she played in the water. The main pool has access to the Tropics Cantina for poolside food and drinks. Each area of rooms also has their own pool. For couples traveling without children, there is an adult only pool.
The bungalows with bay and beach access have shared fire pits for roasting marshmallows and enjoying evenings by the water. Paradise Point delivered a bundle of firewood, skewers, marshmallows, and chocolate for us to make s’mores. We waited until the sun went down and had a fun family night by the fire.
The next morning we had breakfast at the Barefoot Bar & Grill. My daughter had a smoothie with scrambled eggs and I enjoyed blueberry pancakes. My husband had an omelette and we all enjoyed the Mission Bay view. We continued exploring the resort and arranged a bike ride. With so many different activities, we easily could have spent the entire day at the resort. My daughter has always wanted to rent a family bike and this was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the California sunshine together.
We toured the entire resort on our family bike and then drove along Mission Bay for more fun.
Other activities include water sports, miniature golf, and participating in the passport to paradise program to include unlimited access to tennis courts and a variety of other sporting amenities.
We visit the San Diego area frequently and love being near Mission Bay. SeaWorld and the Mission Bay park are just a short five minute drive away. If you prefer not to leave the resort, there are plenty of activities to keep your family busy during your stay. If you are traveling with your family you can easily arrange a visit for your children aged 4-12 at the Island Adventure Club during the summer months to allow for a romantic dinner date on property.
During our stay we experienced excellent customer service and would definitely plan another stay when we visit San Diego again. With so many reasons to be in paradise, make your reservations today!
