Shopping for Kids Clothes Online with Cookie’s Kids

I always try to plan ahead of the holiday season but every year it sneaks up!  We had a few events approaching and I needed to purchase clothes for my daughter.  Unfortunately with a very busy December schedule I was having difficulty finding the time to make it out shopping.  Luckily I discovered Cookie’s Kids, the online kids department store!

Cookie’s Kids has been in business for 40 years and originally began selling toys in New York.  The toy store was so successful in their first year they were able to add clothes to the inventory.  With even more success the store added school uniforms, shoes, and even accessories.  The online store was launched in 2007 and offers the entire Cookie’s Kids inventory.  They currently have 7 stores in the NYC area in Bronx, Brooklyn and Jamaica as well as the online shop.

The first thing I noticed on their website was the low shipping costs.  It’s only $5.95 per order every single day!  Or if you have a lot of shopping to do (over $99), your order ships free.

With a few holiday parties in mind, I browsed the dresses.  Wow, they were so pretty!  And the prices were extremely low!  Where else can you buy a dress as pretty as these for under $30?

Although I absolutely adored the pretty dresses, our holiday events are not formal.  I checked out some casual options and found so many sparkly tops and adorable sets.  I love, love, love the set with the attached leg warmers!

My biggest problem with online shopping is the size variation in kids clothes.  I never buy pants online for my daughter because she is taller than average and with out seeing the clothes in person, they rarely ever fit.  Pants purchased online are either too big in the waist with a perfect length, or too short with a perfect waist.  Problem solved – Cookie’s Kids has an app on their website customized to every item that helps you select the right size.  Wow!  It’s easy to use and definitely helped me make a good decision.

With $5.95 quick shipping, our package arrived in time for my daughter to wear a new holiday outfit to one or our events.  The Miss Jeans “Rideout” Skinny Pants and Cherry Stix “My Shine” Dress paired together very well.  I love that the dress can go also with leggings or be worn as a dress in the spring when the weather warms up.  The pants and belt can be worn hundreds of different ways with tops we already own.

She also had a sparkly new shirt to wear to her fourth birthday party!  The Skechers “Dance Line” 2-piece top fit perfect!

Cookie’s Kids made shopping online for kids clothes fun and easy!  I will definitely be shopping here again!

I’m excited to share a discount for my friends.  Use code “briebrieblooms” at checkout for an extra 10% off sitewide until December 21, 2012.  Perfect for last minute holiday outfits and gifts!

Disney Princess Ultimate Dream Castle and Cinderella Transforming Carriage

Last week I shared the fun I had shopping with my daughter for her Disney Princess birthday gifts.  Our Mother/Daughter Shopping experience was great and the products we brought home have been so much fun for both of us!  Having the  Ultimate Dream Castle in her bedroom has completely intensified her love for the Disney Princesses!

My daughter wanted to put the castle together the second we walked it into our home.  She has had the castle on her birthday and holiday wish list for a long time and she couldn’t believe we actually had the box in her bedroom.  Waiting to put it together would have been horrible for both of us so we ripped open the box and had the new castle complete before my husband was home from work.  The castle structure was not difficult to piece together because of the detailed instructions.  The castle comes with a lot of very small and ridiculously cute accessories for the Princesses.  My daughter worked on the little pieces while I put the big parts together.  With teamwork we had the castle completed in less than an hour.

My daughter was also extremely excited to open her new Cinderella Transforming Carriage.

The carriage required no assembly and she started playing with it immediately!  She can easily transform the pumpkin to a carriage by herself and is very enthusiastic every single time she asks me to watch the magic.

I have really enjoyed watching her play with dolls in the castle.  Sometimes she lets me play with her but other times she wants to play on her own.  I’m not sure which I prefer.  Playing with princesses in a huge castle is so much fun!

We do not own any of the Disney Princess dolls yet so we have been using other dolls from her playroom to play in the castle.

The castle has so many fun features.  One of my daughter’s favorites is the magic carpet elevator.

Tea parties in the castle kitchen have been keeping us busy.

The Ultimate Dream Castle and Mattel Cinderella Transforming Carriage were perfect holiday gifts for my daughter.  The castle has been on her wishlist for a long time and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make the purchase this year.  I am so happy we did!  She has been playing with the castle every chance she gets.  I have enjoyed watching her get so excited to twirl her dolls around and pretend like they are princesses.  I can’t remember when I stopped playing with dolls in dollhouses but I’m sure it was well beyond my fourth birthday.  I’m confident the castle will be something she continues to play with as she grows.  Just as I can remember my first big dollhouse, I’m sure she will have childhood memories of this castle.

We have added a few Disney Princess dolls to our holiday shopping list!  We already have purchased the new Cinderella Blu-Ray/DVD but I’m not sure I can keep hidden before Christmas much longer!

Cypher Kids Augmented Reality Cards: Numbers, Letters, and Wild Animal Adventures

There is certainly no doubt that our children have great abilities and interests in new technology.  My daughter is extremely interested in anything and everything I show her on our computer, laptops, or smart phones.  She constantly asks to use my phone for apps and definitely prefers it over television.  While I’m excited about her enthusiasm for new technology, sometimes I get overwhelmed by the amount of apps out there.  I want to make sure we are using the technology as an educational resource and not just something to keep her fingers busy while she is sitting in long car rides.  I am so excited to have recently discovered the Cypher Kids Augmented Reality Cards.  The learning cards interact with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) and provide so much more than just entertainment.

Last week we went to our local Target to purchase the cards.  The cards were easy to find and I was happy to see they were fully stocked with all three card sets: Numbers, Letters, and Wild Animal Adventures.

Initially I was not planning on purchasing all three sets of cards.  My daughter is already comfortable with numbers and letters but after reading the information on the packages, I realized these cards are not your standard flash cards!  They are very engaging and interactive.  My daughter was very interested in the new cards we were purchasing.  Before we even left Target she was already completely amazed by the Wild Animal Adventures cards.

I quickly fell in love with these cards.  My daughter did too.  She used them every single day last week!  One of the greatest features of the cards is they can be used with or with out the app.  I was happy to see that good old fashioned flash cards were still great learning tools and held my daughter’s attention.

The interactive app literally brings the figures on the cards to life.  There are different apps for each set of cards.  They are easy to find by searching the name of the card set.  The other option to download the app is simply scanning the code on the front of the box with your Apple device.  The background colors of the apps coordinate with the colors on the front of each card box.  All three apps are free to download.

Once the app is installed you can begin interacting with the card sets.  Each learning card coordinates with a card selection on the app.  You begin your adventure by selecting a card on the app and then finding the coordinating physical card.

The flash card then gets flipped over so you can line up the scan code with the camera on your device.  My three year old daughter quickly figured out how to match up the cards and scan the back all by herself.

The figures on the cards then appear to jump right off the screen and come to life.  Each Numbers card has a character that acts silly, counts, sings, and engages the user.  My daughter  was laughing and having so much fun!

The Wild Animal Adventure cards were full of fun animals!  My daughter is currently really interested in insects and reptiles.  Her favorite in the animal cards was the iguana!  She loved getting to touch the screen and making him jump out of the tree.

By our second day with the cards, my daughter made it clear she preferred to use them by herself.  I was completely comfortable allowing her to play with the cards on her own.  Listening to her interact with the cards and hearing the lessons from the iPad was very similar to observing a preschool classroom.

Although my daughter attends preschool daily and she is already learning numbers and letters, the reinforcement of the material and her eagerness to use the cards have made these a new favorite in our home.

As I mentioned before, each set of cards are great with or with out the use of the app.

  • Each of the Numbers cards (1 – 20) have the word spelled on the top in addition to big bright numbers. The back of the cards have counting objects.
  • The Letters cards are the entire alphabet and each card has the uppercase and lowercase letter. Each letter is accompanied by something starting with that letter.
  • The Wild Animal Adventure cards have wonderful real pictures of animals with their names written across the top. The backs of the cards have fun facts about the animals.

I have countless family members and friends with children that would enjoy using the Cypher Kids Club Interactive Cards. I’m sure the cards will be making it onto my holiday shopping list. The cards are currently available for purchase at select Target stores and will be available during the Target Black Friday sales event.
