I grew up in a small mining town in Arizona and spent many school vacations and weekends camping with my family. My dad taught my brothers and I to appreciate and respect the desert. Although my husband and I do not camp with our daughters, we do take frequent day trips to explore Arizona and teach our daughters about my home state. The Westward Look Resort in Tucson, Arizona invited my family for a complimentary stay over Memorial Day weekend. We loved the opportunity to experience the natural Arizona desert, a beautiful resort, and stellar customer service.
From the moment you drive on property, you’re surrounded by the Arizona desert and deep history full of southwestern artifacts.
The resort has many different accommodations including spacious casita jr. suites, posada rooms with patios entering the pool area, and stargazer suites. Our family was provided a stargazer suite with a private patio and outdoor hot tub.
The entrance to the suites are visually stunning as is the entire Westward Look Resort property. You’ll find many different cacti covering each walking path. The iconic saguaros are usually the first thought when referencing Arizona but we have many other beautiful native cacti and plants too. Barrel cacti and aloe vera plants are my personal favorites.
Each stargazer suite has a private bedroom with patio entrance. The large patio has an area for dining and a private hot tub. The Tucson sky is very dark because of the minimal lighting of the city making the stargazer suite hot tub perfect for late nights observing the stars.
From the bedroom you can see the other side of the suite with a complete living room and dining table. Both sides of the suite have full bathrooms with showers.
I shared a stargazer suite tour on Snapchat. My daughters were having fun exploring in the background.
The many hiking trails at the resort are paved and clearly marked making it safe and comfortable for you to explore the desert. In addition to the many different plants and natural Arizona beauty, you’ll also have the opportunity to see wildlife in their natural environment.
The cactus variety is impressive. You’ll see many different prickly pear variations including those blooming. My daughter‘s favorite observation was the purple prickly pears.
The onsite restaurants offer dining for special occasions as well as more casual options. We were greeted back in our room by a delicious fruit and cheese tray with dessert. The perfectly plated treat was a refreshing snack after spending the day outside.
The resort has three pools, two of which are adult only. We spent hours playing at the family friendly main pool. The poolside restaurant, Oasis, offers a great menu so you could spend the entire day lounging under the shade of an umbrella.
Other resort activities include guided hikes, horseback riding, tennis, spa services and more. Just a short drive from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Old Tucson, your stay can include a variety of day trips in between relaxing at the resort.
The Play Your Way summer special offers rates starting at just $99 per night with complimentary breakfast, free wi-fi and a reduced resort fee. How will you Play Your Way at the Westward Look Resort in Tucson this summer?
