Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch Arizona roadside attraction

If you’ve ever driven along the Interstate 10 in Arizona from Phoenix to Tucson you have seen the signs for the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch. Growing up in Arizona, I always wondered about this roadside attraction and considered stopping many times. Our oldest daughter has been curious about the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch Arizona roadside attraction too. She chose to spend her final day of summer break last year with a family road trip to the ranch. Fall weather is bringing excellent temperatures for outdoor activities so we are looking forward to another visit to the ranch soon. With so many animals to see including deer, donkeys, ducks, goats, lorikeets, ostrich and more, it’s a perfect place for a family road trip stop.

You’ll stumble on the ranch by driving right along the I-10 near Picacho Peak. You can’t miss the signs but do have to drive off the road to get to the entrance.

The lorikeets were our very favorite of all the animals at the ranch. They are beautiful birds in a 5,000 square foot enclosure and drink nectar from a cup you hold. We visited the birds more than once during our time at the ranch.

Feeding the ostrich is quite an experience. They are very large and enthusiastic about quickly eating the food you pour from your cup.

The Hole in the Wall Gang goats are just as excited to see you as you are to visit them. They are eager to stick their heads through the holes in the wall from their home to gobble up the feed from your hand or cup.

Miniature donkeys and fallow deer are also some of the sweet animals we fed during our visit to the ranch.

The many birds in the Rainbow Lorikeet Forest are beautiful and very gentle. My daughter enjoyed holding a cup of nectar so they would land on her for the treat.

Baby sister didn’t seem to care there was a bird on her mommy’s head.
