Meal Planning Family Activity

This week was election week so we had a little fun learning about the importance of voting with a meal planning family activity. Instead of assigning meals to specific days I made a simple menu and polled my daughters and husband each morning about their preferred dinner later that evening. Running on a chaotic and packed schedule, I made sure we had ingredients for my simple ideas then let my family choose collectively what we would have for dinner. The concern for what happens when my sister doesn’t want the same thing I do presented a great opportunity to talk to our daughters about the importance of the electoral process. Collectively they needed to come to an agreement or we would select the meal winner by majority ruling. Last night everyone agreed on pot pies and it worked out perfectly because it was one of our busiest after school days with an added club activity, homework and more. Banquet Deep Dish Meat Lover’s Pizza Mega Pot Pies from Walmart for the win!

Supplies:

  • chalkboard
  • chalk
  • letter stickers
  • washi tape

Your children can get involved with making this craft too. We called it our family dinner voting poll board. Use the letter stickers to add a “dinner” title to the top of the chalkboard. Each family member puts their vote on dinner for the night with washi tape. My daughters and husband all picked pot pies but they were in for a big surprise when I served Banquet Deep Dish Mega Pot Pie.

Banquet Deep Dish Meat Lover’s Pizza Mega Pot Pie satisfies your most carnivorous cravings with meatballs and pepperoni stuffed inside a flaky, made-from-scratch crust filled with flavorful marinara sauce and melted mozzarella. It’s a fun take on a calzone, only different and perfect for the night our family collectively decides on a meal. The Mega Pot Pies come in several other varieties too including Bacon Mac N Cheese, Buffalo Style Chicken Mac N Cheese and Chicken. The traditional chicken variety is an elevated Pot Pie with 20% more chicken per bite than the original. It also includes mega amounts of carrots, potatoes, and peas in a creamy home-style gravy.

The warm flaky crust is everything you want in a fall comfort food for a late night family meal on a busy weeknight. Surprise, these are cooked in the microwave and only take eight minutes to prepare. Take a mom break get dinner on the table quick tonight so you have more time for family fun.

Find all the varieties at Walmart and keep them in your freezer so you’re prepared for the night your family collectively votes pot pies for dinner!
