I’m less than a month away from my 12th wedding anniversary with my husband and we just celebrated 15 years since our first date. Our wedding jewelry has such a sweet story and my engagement ring is my most favorite. I’ve worn it everyday for almost 14 years so it was devastating when I learned I had developed an allergy preventing me from comfortably wearing my wedding jewelry. I am exploring treatment options but in the meantime, am so happy with the new jewelry I’m wearing daily that is almost identical to my original platinum wedding set. The lab created white sapphire in a sterling silver setting from Jeulia is stunning and helped me overcome the grief of not being able to wear my very loved original wedding jewelry.
A full year before our engagement my husband and I were on a Caribbean cruise with an excursion to Atlantis. We spent the day exploring the aquariums and window shopping. Prior to this day we had not ever discussed wedding jewelry and were playfully browsing a jewelry shop when I saw the most beautiful ring. The A.Jaffe platinum princess cut ring was gorgeous and after putting it on my finger in the store during that vacation, my husband knew he would propose a year later with that same ring. My story leaves out the many challenges in finding the ring my husband encountered along the way, but a year later I was wearing that ring and planning our wedding.
My husband gifted me a second band for our five year wedding anniversary and it wasn’t until just last year that I ever noticed any discomfort while wearing the ring. Slowly it turned from a slight agitation to blisters within an hour of wearing the jewelry. The wedding jewelry was cleaned and there was no improvement to my agitation every time I wore the ring. I saw a dermatologist and was told I had an allergy to platinum. The dermatologist advised my options were to administer a daily shot to reduce my allergy or to stop wearing the jewelry. While I’m still not fully convinced this is the true diagnosis, in the meantime I did stop wearing my loved wedding jewelry and didn’t ever feel comfortable without my ring. Then I was introduced to Jeulia, a jeweler that utilizes environmentally conscious materials to create stunning jewelry at affordable prices. I spent hours looking at the many wedding jewelry sets and then found a ring that looked almost identical to my own platinum wedding set. Unless I mentioned it, you wouldn’t ever notice the 3 piece radiant cut created white sapphire wedding set 3.36 CT TW is not my original wedding jewelry.
The last time I wore my original wedding set I knew the Jeulia ring and bands were on their way. I’m grateful for the beautiful holiday photos taken by Madyson Floyd and went home knowing I wouldn’t try to wear my original ring again.
The following week my new Jeulia wedding jewelry arrived and I am no longer enduring the discomfort of wearing a ring I am allergic to.
Jeulia provides a great customer service experience and my ring arrived within weeks after placing my order. The affordable wedding jewelry makes it possible to wear the ring of your dreams without the same expense. With over 500 styles using lab created white sapphires in various metal settings, there is something to fit every style. The Jeulia website makes it easy to search for wedding jewelry by stone color, price, stone cut, plating color and primary stone carat weight.
The ring I chose is three individual pieces so I can also wear the bands separately exactly as I did with my own original wedding jewelry. The setting is sterling silver with a platinum appearance. The white sapphire princess cut stone sparkles and shines just like my own diamond and other than compliments, my close friends and family haven’t noticed I’m wearing new jewelry – exactly what I wanted when looking to replace my wedding set.
I’d love to hear about your dream wedding jewelry, do you have a great story to share too?

These rings made all the difference, huh? I honestly had no idea that anyone could be allergic to jewelry, but you learn something new every day. Your new ring is GORG!
It’s really awesome that you were able to find a jeweler that would make you a ring you’re not allergic to! I also love how it looks! It’s definitely worth it!
That is a sweet story and the followup does have a happy ending with the help of Jeulia jewelers. It is too bad you had to go through that allergy.
I developed an allergy to nickel later in life. I is honestly a real pain in the rear, do you know how many things contain nickel? Aside from money! I’ve never heard anyone being allergic to platinum though, until you 😉
I’m so sorry you developed a reaction to your favorite ring! I can only imagine the sentimental value it holds. I’m glad you’ve been able to get an almost identical wedding set. It looks amazing!
This is such a lovely story. I had never heard of anyone being allergic to platinum before however I know there are so many allergies out there anything is possible. Glad you were able to find something that is stunning and looks very much like your original set.
That’s really interesting – I’ve recently started having a reaction to my wedding ring, and I assumed it was using a different hand soap or hand lotion. It never occurred to me that I could be allergic to the ring itself. I’m going to look into this brand just in case that turns out to be the case.
This is so awesome! I love the fact that with these new, manufactured stones/metals, stores can often give you a more affordable price for a piece that is just as beautiful!
OMG that is a gorgeous ring! I love that there are affordable options these days!
I like your ring! Sapphire wedding rings hold one of the most popular gemstones in the world!
I love your story! I love jewelry and am constantly changing what I like. This year, though, for my 40th wedding anniversary, I got to custom design my ring. I love it. It is platinum, so I hope I don’t develop an allergy!
In retrospect I would so much rather have lab created jewels. I want to tell my husband to only get me them in the future.
This is a beautiful ring. I am so sorry you had to wait so long to find something you can wear. What a beautiful setting and I love that you can wear a ring now. 🙂

Wow…I would be so sad if I couldn’t wear my engagement and wedding bands. Glad you found something that looks the same and doesn’t hurt you.
