Our sponsored family visit with ResorTime to Kauai, Hawaii was seven full days of relaxing and exploring the beautiful island. Our time was occupied with many adventures including snorkeling, cruising the Na Pali Coast with Holo Holo Charters, the Smith Family Garden Luau, and so much more. We stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort and much of our time was spent in the pool and playing on the Hanalei Bay beach.
Opening our patio doors each morning to see the sun shining down on the bay was incredible. Our flight from Arizona to Hawaii was significantly delayed causing us to arrive to the island in the dark. Arriving in the night, we weren’t able to see the view from our room until the next morning. The moment I opened the curtains and saw the lush tropical resort view, I knew we were going to have a wonderful family vacation.
The newly renovated resort features dark wood with traditional Polynesian decor. The modern style is refreshing with the picturesque views of the natural Hawaiian tropics from every corner.
The resort has traditional hotel rooms as well as one-bedroom condos. The condos have a large bedroom and separate living room with full kitchen. With so many visits to local beaches and the Hanalei Bay beach on property, having multiple bathrooms is very ideal. My daughters enjoyed evening baths and different bed times because we were able to put the baby to sleep in a different room while we intended to stay up later.
Our condo was on the first floor and opened to a spacious patio where we enjoyed breakfast every morning. One of the first island stops we made was Costco for groceries. Each morning started with iced coffee and homemade breakfasts on the patio. Our one year old daughter loved watching the birds from the patio while our older daughter was busy spotting distant waterfalls.
The resort lagoon pool has the same incredible views making it very tempting to spend all day here. The shallow water is great for younger children and the waterfall is a great place for older children to swim under pretending to be mermaid. My seven year old daughter obviously enjoyed the pool very much.
Evenings at the resort were spent watching the most amazing sunsets.
The sunsets can be seen from many different places at the resort but our very favorite spot to watch the sun go down was just beyond the onsite tennis courts.
The open air lobby has a koi pond your children will ask to visit multiple times each day. Ask for a complimentary cup of fish food for hours of fun feeding the koi. My daughters easily could have spent the entire day with these fish!
The Happy Talk Bar & Lounge is a highly sought out Princeville restaurant. As a guest at the Hanalei Bay Resort, you can easily visit the restaurant early or make a reservation to avoid a wait. The menu has pupus (appetizers), sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. My favorite meal here is a burger and fries. But it’s not just a burger; it’s the best burger I ate in Kauai!
The Hanalei Bay is a wonderful area full of shade and shallow water for days spent snorkeling or simply building sand castles on the beach.
The resort shares the beach with the St. Regis and offers a shuttle service as an alternative to the 10 minute walk. The scenic walk to the beach is easy as it is downhill but after playing at the beach for several hours, our family opted to use the complimentary shuttle to return to our room.
Sight seeing in our rental car provided a perfect opportunity to see the view of the resort from the other side of the bay.
With so many onsite activities along with the many different nearby excursions, staying at the Hanalei Bay Resort was perfect for our family. With a baby, I truly appreciate the full kitchen. It’s not always easy to have a one year old child in a restaurant and by shopping for groceries and visiting local farmer’s markets, we were still able to enjoy meals with fresh ingredients cooked in our own kitchen. The dishwasher also makes a huge difference if a child in your family is still using bottles or sippy cups.
I really can’t imagine a more perfect vacation than opening your patio doors each morning to this amazing view of the Hanalei Bay.
