My daughter is almost four years old and is currently obsessed with bugs and insects. She gets so excited each time she discovers something new and we have a growing collection of rolly pollies (pill bugs) in our backyard. She soaks up every little fact she hears and her teachers have trouble keeping her out of the school’s garden. This week we were visiting family in Florida. We were able to visit so many great places that provided endless learning opportunities. One of my daughter’s favorites this week was the Daggerwing Nature Center in Boca Raton. The center features a new exhibit with live animals as well as an elevated boardwalk for a fun walk through the swamp. Growing up in Arizona I obviously never had the opportunity to stroll through the swamp looking for snakes and alligators. I was very excited for our nature walk!
We started our journey in the new indoor exhibit. My daughter was ecstatic to discover the large collection of bugs.
She couldn’t believe what she found in the pull out drawers!
We continued down the path and discovered a great area full of over sized insects and aquariums with frogs and fish.
Our family had a great time at the center and our little bug loving daughter learned so much!
“The mission of Daggerwing Nature Center is to encourage an appreciation for our natural environment through education and demonstration, in an effort to inspire individuals to become personally involved in the conservation of south Florida’s natural resources.”
If you have an insect loving child or just want to explore and are in the Boca Raton area, definitely stop by!
That first bug in the frame is why I have absolutely no desire to ever visit Florida. ACK!!!
