Chocolate Chai Tea Latte with Almond Milk

January 14, 2014 By: Heather1 Comment

Last year I made a huge effort to stop drinking multiple cups of coffee full of sugary creamers. Earlier in the year I started paying attention to my calorie consumption and realized all those cups of coffee full of creamer were adding over 500 calories a day. Yikes. It was hard but, other than a rare treat, I completely stopped drinking coffee. In less than two months I lost almost 20 pounds. My normal diet is pretty healthy and I didn’t realize that one indulgence was adding so many unnecessary calories to my day. I slowly reintroduced coffee to my diet but am careful to avoid going back to a routine full of sugary creamers. I love my morning routine of a warm beverage but instead of coffee, I’ve been reaching for a chocolate chai tea latte with almond milk.

Chocolate Chai Tea Latte with Almond Milk

Compared to my favorite coffee creamer, almond milk has less than half the sugar and calories. It’s also dairy free.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bigelow chocolate chai tea bag
  • 1/2 C almond milk
  • 1/2 C water

Silk almond milk and Bigelow chocolate chai tea

Prepare the chocolate chai tea in 1/2 cup water. My mornings are always rushed so I microwave a cup with water then drop in the tea bag to steep for a few minutes.

Sounds delish! I use almond milk in my morning coffee. I love it so much that dairy milk tastes rancid to me, now. Congrats on your achievement!
