Always Eat After 7PM Book Author Interview

I recently shared my personal experiences struggling to get comfortable with my own body image and years of weightloss efforts. Last month I began reading Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion. The intriguing method brings light to research I otherwise would not consider when developing a plan that works best for my personal routine. The New Approach to Food has been an eye-opening learning experience and filled our kitchen with yummy (and healthy) recipes to change up our dinner routine.

I read Joel Marion’s interview responses and in addition to learning more about the Always Eat After 7 PM plan, I also learned about his passion for helping all strive to be their best while also recognizing we all have different goals.

Always Eat After 7 PM book author Joel Marion's interview responses teach us about the diet plan and his passion for helping all to strive to be their best.

Interview with Book Author Joel Marion

What inspired you to write the book?

After authoring 6 best selling books it was glaringly obvious there were 2 huge misconceptions about dieting that needed to be exposed. The first is that you can’t eat late at night or before bed, which science now shows is NOT true. And second, you can’t eat large portions that satisfy your natural instinct. This book solves both these problems by providing an evidence-based, enjoyable approach to dieting that can be used by any person to quickly achieve their weight loss goals.

You’re a six-time best selling author, what is different about this book compared to your others?

Although many of the concepts are similar, the biggest difference is that you don’t have to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. You don’t have to deal with the burden of eating every few hours. And you don’t have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before bed.

How difficult is the Always Eat After 7 PM plan to follow?

It’s not. And that’s exactly why I wrote the book. While any diet is never truly easy, it can be more enjoyable and much easier to adhere to when you understand how Always Eat After 7pm works because it caters to our bodies natural instincts.

We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal. The book shares research supporting Joel’s plan to eat later in the evening.

A research paper published in Sports Medicine in 2014 showed that people who eat the majority of their carbs at dinner actually sleep better. Carb-induced, quality sleep decreases cortisol (a fat-storing hormone) and ramps up the production of your sleep hormones, serotonin and melatonin. Restorative sleep increases fat-burning hormones—the main one being growth hormone—overnight.

Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance. For me personally, I’ve always struggled to not consume calories in the evening. Secondly, I’m not one to easily give up my favorite foods. My personal experience has been going overboard on dieting or exercising, but neither have ran at consistent pace simultaneously. Consistency is the key and I’m loving that the Always Eat after 7PM doesn’t suggest removing the foods you love.
