Attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration at Disneyland was an amazing experience for my family. With so many unbelievable opportunities and experiences during the four day conference, it’s challenging to select our favorites. There was plenty of excitement during the week about Maleficent starring Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora and Angelina Jolie as Maleficent with the movie being released in theaters May 30. During a morning sponsored by Disney Junior we were treated to a very special surprise. Elle Fanning arrived to the stage to talk about her role in the movie. Her elegance and humble spirit were notable and she spoke well beyond what you would expect from a teenager. Elle had her 16th birthday just a couple of days before she visited Disneyland and we were able to sing a birthday song and share cupcakes to help her celebrate. Our morning became even more magical when Maleficent interrupted the celebration just before we began the birthday song.
Elle Fanning enjoyed her time at Disneyland and was absolutely adorable when she spoke to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration group. She plays Princess Aurora in the new Maleficent movie so seeing her stand in front of the real Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland is unforgettable.
Our discussion about the movie began with Maleficent Producer Don Hahn sharing the real inspiration behind the film. Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty drawings of Maleficent helped turn Angelina Jolie into the stunning character.
Elle’s visit was a surprise to the conference and we were all amazed when she was introduced to the stage. She spoke about Aurora being her favorite childhood princess. She said she always wanted to have long blond hair like Princess Aurora. Elle’s dreams came true being able to play the part of her most favorite princess in Maleficent.
Elle’s birthday is April 9th just a couple of days before her visit to Disneyland. We were just about to wish her a happy birthday with a group song when Maleficent interrupted the celebration.
The special interruption added to the fun during the event. Maleficent was beautiful and mysterious leaving us all incredibly excited for the release of the movie.
Maleficent made a grand exit and Elle was given a birthday cake with candles on stage.
She blew out her candles and we all shared birthday cupcakes to celebrate.
Like Elle, my daughter also calls Princess Aurora her favorite. We recently made DIY Princess Aurora color bubbles to play with in the park. Meeting Elle Fanning, the real Princess Aurora, will make my daughter’s play time so much more fun.
Maleficent will be released in theaters May 30, 2014. I’m looking forward to watching Elle’s talent in the film and can’t wait to see Angelina Jolie as Maleficent!
