I recently attended the TECHmunch Los Angeles conference in Anaheim, California. The traveling food blogger conference organized by Babette of BakeSpace.com was a great experience packed full of food and Disney. Loving Disneyland and being just a state away had me jump on the opportunity to attend the conference with two of my favorite blogging friends, Sara of Mom Endeavors and Sara of Clever Pink Pirate. We had so much fun taking a break from our everyday mom duties while learning about food at Disney’s Grand California Hotel.
We arrived in the afternoon with just one free hour before the conference opening night mixer. We quickly made our way to Disneyland for a churro and a couple of attractions.
The mixer, sponsored by the Disneyland Resort, included appetizers and a cocktail crafted for the conference.
Following the mixer we went to a private dinner hosted by Foodie at Naples Ristorante e Pizzaria in Downtown Disney. We were treated to more amazing food while chatting with friends and learning about Foodie.com, a recipe collection site.
We were up late chatting in our hotel room before finally getting some rest for the next big conference day. The full session day was packed with great learning opportunities. We learned about a variety of topics including how to create an editorial calendar, food photography, and security on your blog.
Lunch was definitely the highlight of the event. The “Taste of Disneyland” Lunch sponsored by Disney gave us the opportunity to talk to chefs and watch dishes from Disneyland restaurants being prepared. I have visited Disneyland hundreds of times and have many many amazing experiences but this lunch was, by far, my best day at Disneyland.
We went to California Adventure that evening to visit Cars Land and watch World of Color.
Our evening ended at the #SweetDreamsSoiree, an event hosted by Kacey of Kacey’s Kitchen and Jessica of My Baking Heart. The event included more food and was a great way to end a very busy Disney day.
The next morning we had time to spend in the parks and work on the TECHmunch scavenger hunt. We did our best to get pictures of all the food dishes on the Disneyland hunt list:
- Macaroons at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café
- Garlic or Strawberry Twists at Maurice’s Treats
- Hand-pulled Apple Strudel at the Village Haus
- Fried Pickle at Carnation Café
- Photo Inside Blue Bayou
- Fried Green Tomato Sandwich at Hungry Bear
- Lobster Roll at Harbor Galley
- S’mores at Big Thunder Ranch
- Dole Whip at Tiki Juice Bar
- Mickey-shaped Beignets at Café Orleans
- The Red Corn Dog Truck on Main Street, U.S.A.
We started our scavenger hunt adventure with an early lunch reservation at Café Orleans.
Then we navigated our way through almost every dining option at Disneyland, tasting so much amazing food along the way.
My husband and daughter had flown to California to meet me at Disneyland later that day. While I was busy eating my way through Disneyland they were spinning on the teacups and having a fun day riding attractions.
While Sara and Sara headed to the airport I joined my family for more Disneyland fun.
TECHmunch LA was one of the best conferences I’ve attended. In addition to all the the fun Disney related activities, I enjoyed networking with food bloggers that I wouldn’t normally spend so much time with. The conference left me impressed by Disney’s effort to provide great culinary experiences and me wanting to explore more of my foodie side.
A special thanks to the sponsors and attendees that made TECHmunch LA such a great experience.
This TECHmunch conference just happened to be hosted at one of my favorite places to visit but the conference travels nationwide. Learn more about TECHmunch by following along on Facebook. You can see all the food pictures from our scavenger hunt on Instagram.
