10 Ways to Enjoy Spring in Arizona
Early spring in Arizona is one of my favorite times of the year because there are so many opportunities for a stunning desert view in our perfect weather. It’s also the season that creeps into the beginning of our 100˚+ days but we are certainly grateful to not be in our 120˚ summer quite yet. Our neighborhood park is busy and unlike the hottest days of summer, weekend days are spent outside with a wonderful smell of blooming flowers. The Arizona desert shows off some gorgeous colors in the spring and the strong scent of sweet flowers with buzzing bees nearby. 10 Ways to Enjoy Spring in Arizona includes all my favorite activities and a few tips for battling the onset of spring allergies. With the help of Clorox and FLONASE from our local Kroger grocery store, enjoying spring can be full of sunshine and butterflies without the added aggravation of allergies.
The Arizona desert beauty is all about the Saguaro and out of state guests are always amazed by their presence. “They are everywhere!” The Saguaro cactus can grow to be over 40 feet tall and live over 150 years. The cactus blooms April to June with a stunning white flower. The cactus also produces a vibrant ruby red fruit in June.
Surprisingly to many of our out of state guests, Arizona springtime brings many other blooms too. My yard is currently full of color.
With that color and sweet smell also comes the onset of spring allergies. In our home we use Clorox Disinfecting Wipes on hard non-porous surfaces to wipe away the most common allergens*. The wipes Kill 99.9% of Viruses** and Bacteria which is why I also keep the wipes in my car and bring them along to our family adventures at the park. A good wipe down of the monkey bars before my youngest daughter hops on is helpful for relieving allergy symptoms.
FLONASE makes an appearance in our home during the springtime to help relieve allergy symptoms to. Unlike Most Allergy Pills, FLONASE Relieves*** Nasal Congestion Plus Runny Nose, Sneezing, Itchy Nose, Itchy Eyes, and Watery Eyes. It helps Block 6 Allergic Substances, Most Pills Only Block 1**** and is from the #1 Doctor Recommended Brand***** in Allergy Relief. The over the counter medication is a powerful allergy relief in a gentle mist you’ll barely feel.
Children’s FLONASE SENSIMIST is for children ages two and older so it’s great for both my daughters. Unlike Most Allergy Syrups, Children’s FLONASE SENSIMIST Relieves****** Nasal Congestion Plus Runny Nose, Sneezing, Itchy Nose, Itchy Eyes*******, and Watery Eyes. Used identical as the adult version, the gentle mist is barely felt and easy to administer to children.
10 Ways to Enjoy Spring in Arizona
Much like fall in Arizona, ways to enjoy spring in Arizona gets you outside soaking up our incredible weather and enjoying the sunshine before it’s too hot.
Pool Days
We just moved into a new home late last year and are really missing the pool we built in our previous home. While this might not be the year we add a pool to our new backyard, we will definitely be enjoying Arizona spring days at our community pool! Arizona cities and towns have incredible water resorts and public pools to enjoy this season too. Check your local city or town webpages for pool hours and season opening days or plan a staycation at a resort like the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain or JW Marriot Desert Ridge.
Neighborhood Walks to the Park
We have settled right into our new neighborhood with an incredible street of friends but this is the season to get outside and explore. Plan a family walk after dinner to your park to play and meet neighbors while they are enjoying the excellent weather too.
Family Bike Ride
Our youngest daughter is just three years old and seems to think she’s ready to remove the training wheels from her bike. In an attempt to convince us to agree, her big sister asks to to go on a family bike ride everyday. It’s great exercise, fresh air and a free family activity.
Watch a desert storm
Monsoon season doesn’t begin quite yet but we have some fascinating desert storms in late spring. From our patio we can watch the desert sky light up with lightning and hear thunder with raindrops. But be careful not to be out in the middle of these quick storms because a Haboob happens fast without warning in the desert too.
Family Hike
Spring is the best time to enjoy early morning family hikes on our many marked desert trails. Family safety is a priority so pack plenty of water, watch your feet as you step to avoid startling a snake and stay on marked trails.
Attend a festival
Arizona has a fabulous calendar of events in the spring. We just visited the Arizona Renaissance Festival and all agreed next year we are attending earlier in the season for cooler daytime temperatures.
Visit the zoo
Plan an early morning visit to the zoo or other local attraction to see spring animal babies! The Phoenix Zoo is our favorite frequent visit during this season!
Roadtrip
Explore all the beauty of the state on a road trip. In just one day you can easily see many different small cities and towns. My hometown, Globe, Arizona, is full of history and the best mexican food restaurants!
Picnic in the Park
There aren’t many times of the year where our temperature make a picnic in the park enjoyable but spring is definitely when you take advantage of the green grass and a picnic blanket!
Visit a preserve or outdoor museum
The Arizona Sonora Desert museum is a must see with thousands of local plants and cactus varieties. It’s a great place for photography, bird spotting and learning about Arizona history.
Pick up all the spring in Arizona essentials like Clorox and FLONASE at your local Kroger grocer.

I just love the double rainbow/storm picture! I find that flonase and nasocort come out at my house too-although I am not typically a fan of steroids sometimes the benefits outweigh any small risks and we pull out the big guns to help our allergies too!
These are all perfect ideas to do over the summer. Something for everyone to enjoy
Love those classic big cacti I did not realize there is a spring growing season out there it is so nice. It is a great place to hike or cycle before the real heat sets in.
The desert scenery has always appealed to me. There’s something amazing about it. A family hike and watching a desert storm sounds like a great experience!
Great photos, I really love seeing those cactus. I have never been to Arizona but hey maybe someday.

I have never been to Arizona before but I would love to go there someday. I need to see some cacti in real life! LOL!
I never really thought about wiping away allergens in our home. However, I use Clorox wipes all the time for pet messes (like cat vomit and litterbox accidents), and I successfully stopped the spread of flu in our house over the winter!
Flonase is something I keep close in the Spring and Summer. I need to remember to pack it when I go on a trip later this month!
There are so many wonderful things to do in Arizona. I’d love to watch a dessert storm and visit the botanical gardens. Thanks for the tips!
I’ve only been to Arizona once. It was in the Summer and I was sure I would spontaneously combust each time I walked out of my hotel lobby and into the heat. I don’t know how anyone lives there. BUT… it was incredibly beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I have always heard Arizona is beautiful! My husband use to always drive by that city when he was on the road. I love your images especially the double rainbow and I would love to visit their museum. And yes FLONASE I just started on and Clorox is always being used in our home

Thanks for sharing this! We haven’t been able to get outside much since moving in cause we’ve been in “renovation mode” with the dumpster rental and everything. We’re finally finishing up, and I’ve been so excited to get back outside and experience our new home state, but I might as well be a visitor so this info is all really helpful! Thank you for sharing!
