Each year I have a long list of DIY gifts I want to make and then slowly as we get closer to the holidays, I realize I’ll never find the time to craft my way through the season. This year I’m starting early and already have teacher gifts complete! My DIY sweater stocking for teacher is filled with craft supplies and favorite holiday storybooks that make perfect stocking stuffers. The Skittles® Book of Awesome and Life Savers® Sweet Storybook from Walmart are nice reminders to teachers that they need to take a break for some fun too. The easy no sew stocking is quick and inexpensive making it the perfect DIY gift to cross off your list early this holiday season. Pair with my free printable teacher stocking card and your teacher gift will be complete!
DIY Sweater Stocking for Teacher tutorial
Supplies:
- Wrigley holiday storybooks (our favorite are the Skittles® Book of Awesome and Life Savers® Sweet Storybook)
- craft supplies to gift to your teacher
- winter sweater
- scissors
- hot glue gun & glue
- printable stocking template
The Wrigley holiday storybooks each have a fun activity or craft with a box full of favorite candy. These are great stocking stuffers for all and I can’t wait to see all my relatives show off their #SkittlesBeard with selfies when we open stockings. The selfies would also make an excellent electronic holiday card for friends this year!
To make the DIY sweater stocking, you need a colorful winter sweater, the printable stocking template, scissors and your hot glue gun with glue.
Use the stocking template to cut two pieces from the sweater. When cutting the stocking pieces make sure the top of the stocking pattern is lined up with the ribbed edge of your sweater so the open edges of the stocking will not unravel.
sweater cutting tip: turn the sweater inside out then cut both pieces at the same time for an exact match.
Carefully line the edges of one of the stocking pieces with hot glue. Place the second piece on top and gently press the edges together. Make sure you do not glue the top of your stocking closed.
Print the teacher stocking card and fill the stocking with craft supplies for your child’s teacher.
The Skittles® Book of Awesome is going to be much appreciated by my daughter’s awesome second grade teacher this year!
