My oldest daughter is the youngest on her rock climbing team and will be competing in an out of state regionals bouldering competition this weekend. Our Elf on the Shelf, Elvis, has overheard us talking about the competition for weeks. This morning we woke up to find that our elf is a great rock climber too. The rock climbing elf is not my original idea but certainly a favorite in our home this year.
Our eight year old daughter loves the sport and while it has taken quite a bit of learning outside our comfort zone, the past couple of years have been incredible watching her excel.
We recently moved into a new home with a chalkboard painted on the pantry door. It was the perfect place for the Elf on the Shelf to set up his rock climbing wall.
I’m no elf but if I had to guess how he made his rock climbing wall it looks like he used small bows and the chalk markers we used to make this movie night snack station. He also used glue spots to help him hold onto the wall.

Our Elf on the Shelf appears to be an expert rock climbing elf and made everyone in our home smile this morning.
What is your Elf on the Shelf up to today?
I love this idea! There are several creative ideas out there with what to do with your Elf, but this is right up there with creativity!
I really love your version of rock climbing for the Elf on a shelf! It’s really adorable and fun and I’m sure the kids loved it as well.
I love this idea, it’s actually on my Elf Planner Calendar for sometime next week. Our Elf happened to Catch another Intruder Elf this morning. My little guys thought it was hilarious. I think it’s extra special that your Daughter rock climbs, what a great way to incorporate that into Elf on the Shelf
We haven’t started elf on the shelf. This is a great idea. Thank you for sharing.
This is an awesome idea. I think it’s great when the elf does things the kids love to do! Love how you decorated the wall for him too
This is so beyond cute. I have been seeing stuff like this everywhere. I love how creative this is and how much kids would love it.
This is ridiculously cute. Great creative use of the elf. Love seeing how creative people get with the elf.
This is creative idea. I have seen various way people come up with funny ideas with elf. But this one wins my heart. If this is in my house, it will be my constant reminder to work out and be active. Congratulations on your new home.
I love the rock climbing elf on the shelf. Such an original idea. I’m sure your daughter loves it too.
this is so clever! I bet your kids loved finding the elf the next morning.
This is so cute. We have managed to avoid doing elf on the shelf this year. but if it were I would love this idea.
What a fun idea! Especially since your daughter is a rock climber. We are starting our elf this year ( kind of lol) so I need all the ideas I can get!
Great idea. This is our first full year of doing Elf on a Shelf…and I need all the ideas I can find.
This is lovely. I bet your daughter is extra motivated when she sees this every morning! I wish your daughter and her team all the best during their competition.
This is such a super cute climbing elf! I am not sure what our elf is going to do these next few days, but I bet my kids would love to see him climb a door like that!
The rock climbing ELF is hysterical and so creative. Your daughter must have loved seeing it when she woke up in the morning.
This is such a clever idea! I think my kids would love seeing their elf like this, so will give it a try!! 🙂
Haha. This is so adorable! My kids would get a kick out of this. We have never had an Elf on the Shelf, but they seem to be pretty fun to have.
