Every mom deserves a break. Whether you are working outside of your home, from home, or just being mom, motherhood is not easy. Last weekend I went on a little mommy break with close friends. I was home less than 24 hours later and felt completely refreshed. Our #PHXMomcation is just what I needed. We dined at the True Food Kitchen, stayed over at a Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak resort casita, then had breakfast at the resort’s Rico’s restaurant.
Our casita at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak resort was the perfect size for a big group of friends. The casita had two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The couch in the living room had a pull out sleeper and the patio had plenty of room for catching up with good friends during our mommy break. We also had a full kitchen with refrigerator to prepare snacks and keep our drinks cool.
We had dinner at the True Food Kitchen, a first for me. The restaurant has vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free drinks, appetizers, dinner options, and desserts. Although my diet does not normally consist of vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free meals, I was looking forward to a fresh and healthy dinner. We were seated quickly and ordered drinks. I had the Hangover RX consisting of coconut water, pineapple, vanilla, and orange juice. It was a delicious start to dinner with friends.
We had two appetizers served to our table: the herb hummus and vegetable crudités. I was amazed by the fresh local produce that arrived. The veggies with tzatziki and black olive dip were nothing I would have normally ordered but they are a favorite I will go back for. I had the margharita pizza for my dinner entree and finished with a couple of amazing shared desserts.
We planned to spend the evening on the lazy river at the resort’s Hole-in-the-Wall River Ranch Water Park but a monsoon storm changed our plans. We ended up chatting the night away in our casita living room instead.
The next morning we went to breakfast at the resort’s Rico’s All American Grill restaurant. We had a fun ride on a resort cart from the casita to breakfast.
The buffet style breakfast included omelets, fresh fruit, pastries, and a selection of favorite breakfast dishes.
Although we don’t get out for mommy breaks with good friends often, an occasional evening with friends is a great reminder of why every mom deserves a break. Sometimes good food and friends is just the break you need.
A special thanks to the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak resort and True Food Kitchen for hosting us during our #PHXMomcation. And a big thanks to my friends All for the Boys, Clever Pink Pirate, Desert Chica Ramblings, Eclectic Momsense, Mom Endeavors, Phoenix Mom Blog, and Songs Kate Sang for your friendship.
Heather, it was so great to catch up with you! And I am already wanting to head back another dinner at True Foods!
I can’t wait for the next one!
Heather, I’m so glad we finally had the chance to hang out and talk! I was so tired the next day but it was so worth it!
