With two little girls in our home, the ballet during the holidays is absolutely a loved event. Seeing The Nutcracker live has always been a request of my oldest daughter and we were delighted by an invitation to preview Slawomir Wozniak’s acclaimed The Nutcracker featuring many internationally recognized dance stars and Master Ballet Academy students. The Phoenix Ballet presents The Nutcracker is a beautiful holiday show that should not be missed this season debuting Friday, December 15 with shows through Christmas Eve. With a 2017 ticket discount, tickets for the Phoenix Ballet presents The Nutcracker will make a wonderful holiday gift for your entire family.
The preview was during school hours so little sister was my guest. She is just two years old and this was her first ballet experience. She wore her favorite twirly dress and proclaimed it to be, “the best day ever.”
It also helped that her best friend, See Vanessa Craft‘s daughter, was there too. They both very much enjoyed watching the condensed version of The Nutcracker for our preview and then meeting the dancers.
It has been many years since I have been to a ballet performance during the holidays and seeing the stunning dancers brought back many memories of my own childhood.
Slawomir Wozniak’s presentation includes cultural scenes with gorgeous costumes.Dance stars Juliet Doherty, Avery Gay, Madison Penney, Tia Wenkman, Anthony Tette and more are wonderful the The Nutcracker. I won’t give away all the spoilers but will share that 14 year old Tia Wenkman left me in absolute awe with her performance.
Following the preview, Wozniak invited us to meet the dancers. They were all unbelievably kind and very enthusiastic to share why they love dance. Little sister was wearing her own “ballet shoes” and pointed out she matched the dancers. She had many twirls and learned how to point her toes from some of the younger ballerinas. Their talent is incredible and a beautiful reminder of how dedicated they are to expression through dance.
Our family will be watching the full performance later this season and hope you’ll join in supporting the arts with an online ticket purchase too.

Their costumes are so magical! I especially love the pink ones – those must be the sugar plum scene. Sounds like such a fab opportunity!
Oh, I’ve always wanted to go see The Nutcracker! They always have it so early here, and I miss out.
I love The Nutcracker. I’m always amazed at how many melodies from The Nutcracker there are that I didn’t realize were from that.
I wish I had a little girl to enjoy the magic of that show with. Those costumes were amazing and the dancers really seemed to take a real interest in your daughter, to make her love it.

Oh this is awesome! It would be so nice to get tickets and watch this with the kids! It’s one of the things that I enjoyed watching when I was little, whether it was on TV or live in the theater!
I adore the Nutcracker! Ballet has always been so beautiful to me! My daughter is in dance now so maybe she will stick with it and she can dance in our local production one day! Just looking at those pointe shoes though make my feet ache! I used to work in a Shop my friend’s mom owns and we sold dance shoes and attire, and those pointe shoes are NO JOKE!
The Nutcracker is one of my all time favorites! I love all of their costumes. It looks like a wonderful show.
I’ve actually never seen the Nutcracker in person but I would love to. To hear the music and see the costumes up close would be such a treat.
I will agree with you that this is a perfect gift for apartment dwellers! We are going to the Nutcracker this year for the first time. Im so excited about taking my big kids.
If we lived in the area this would be great. My kids would love to see a professional ballet production.
