Our family loves Disneyland all year but one of our favorite seasonal events is Mickey’s Halloween Party. Trick or treating at Disneyland is definitely at the top of our list on the many reasons why we love fall.
One of our favorite times of year at Disneyland is during the fall because the park changes for the Halloween season. With so many fun transformations in the park and Mickey’s Halloween Party, we look forward to our October visit all year!
Some of the rides get a Halloween makeover and the park is decorated with pumpkins. A few of our favorite features include:
- The Haunted Mansion changes to Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas and is full of fun with the residents of Halloween Town.
- Space Mountain turns into a Ghost Galaxy with spooky music.
- Main Street is transformed into a pumpkin festival with amazing hand carved pumpkins.
Mickey’s Halloween Party, a fun holiday themed special event, begins in late September and happens weekly through the end of October. Getting to trick or treat in Disneyland with your favorite characters dressed in costume is so much fun!
Last year my family attended the party and planned to dress as matching pirates but my daughter changed her mind just before getting ready for the party. My husband and I were pirates and she dressed as a Lalaloopsy™ doll.
The Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch is where you’ll meet some of your favorite Disney characters in their Halloween costumes. You can also make crafts, play carnival games, and meet the Disney villians in their sideshow tent.
The Halloween event is full of tick or treat stations where cast members hand out candy and healthy treats.
New to the Halloween Party this year is a Monsters U Dance Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. Last year one of our favorite parts of the party was getting to dance with cast members dressed as pirates in between trick or treating!
In addition to having access to the attractions in the park, there are many opportunities for fun photos.
Last year we ended our night in Disneyland at Mickey’s Halloween Party with an amazing fireworks display. Halloween Screams, the “boo-tiful fireworks spectacular,” offers exclusive viewing for Mickey’s Halloween Party guests.
The five hour party requires a special event ticket to attend. No ticket is required for guests under the age of three. Purchasing a ticket to Mickey’s Halloween Party will grant you admission to the Disneyland Park up to 3 hours prior to the event’s start time with complimentary parking for one vehicle. The party is held several times weekly through out the month of October. Some dates offer special savings when you purchase your tickets in advance online. Annual Passholders also receive a discount on select dates.
If you plan to attend Mickey’s Halloween party, there are just a few costume guidelines to keep in mind. All costumes should be child-friendly. Your costume should not be obstructive, drag on the ground, or contain any sharp objects. Additionally, all costume accessories that resemble real weapons should be left at home. If you or your child plan to wear a mask, your eyes must be visible at all times. Dressing up like Disney Princesses and other characters is part of the magical experience and the park is always filled with children in dress up clothes. Mickey’s Halloween Party is where you’ll find very elaborate and detailed costumes. Remember that if you are in costume as a Disney character you may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for guests.
We will be attending Mickey’s Halloween Party this year and are looking forward to trick or treating at Disneyland!
Connect with Disneyland Halloween Time on Facebook for regular updates and fun at the park.
Will you be trick or treating at Disneyland this year too?
