During our recent move we ran into a little hiccup when both homes were closing just a day apart. This is not uncommon but for us, with an eight year old daughter in third grade attending school the week of our move and a two year old little sister with endless energy, we needed a place to stay for a week that would be comfortable for the entire family. Because we were moving just six miles to our new home and were in between both houses with a long moving to do list to complete, the Hyatt Place Phoenix/Gilbert was the perfect option for our family. Our week long stay gave us a comfortable place to sleep after long packing and moving days, a cozy space for big sister to do her homework every night and a warm breakfast each morning to start the day before we were off to school drop off. We even snuck in some pool time and movie nights. Our complimentary stay helped make our move feel seamless for the entire family.
We love Gilbert, Arizona; so much that we have moved three times in the last 10 years and all our homes have been within about 15 minutes of each other. The quaint farming town is quickly growing and has been named as one of the top places to live in the United States. In 2014 24/7 Wall St., a New York-based financial news and opinion website, ranked Gilbert as the 20th top place to live in our country. The 100 acre wildlife Riparian Reserve along with many other notable recreational activities add to the appeal. The year round sunshine provides the opportunity for many outdoor adventures and Gilbert is perfectly situated with freeway access to enjoy all our beautiful state has to offer. The Hyatt Place Phoenix Gilbert is an excellent option for Arizona weekend getaways, guests during the holidays or like us, when you’re transitioning with a move in Gilbert. All of the spacious guest rooms are suite style providing a bedroom, bathroom and living space with couch, work station, refrigerator and microwave. Staying for multiple days without access to our home kitchen meant we really needed to be able to bring home restaurant leftovers and reheat meals during our weeklong stay. The kitchen area in our room was used often during the week.
Each morning we ate at the complimentary hot buffet and our oldest daughter actually said it was the best breakfast she had ever eaten on a school day. I’ll take that as a compliment given we were right in the middle of the most chaotic move. Every day offered a different menu with favorites like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, a southwestern egg burrito and waffles. There was also plenty of coffee for me in the well stocked coffee and tea breakfast station.
Little sister had no trouble getting comfy in the big plush Hyatt Grand Bed®. She didn’t protest nap time and I surely appreciated her willingness to rest while I caught up on work on the other side of the room.
The state of the art media center had our family enjoying movies nightly. After big sister finished her homework, we would all snuggle up and watch a movie before lights out for bedtime. Speaking of lights, the Hyatt Place Phoenix/Gilbert requires your keycard to keep the lights on in your room. My daughters are great about conserving energy and turning off lights but knowing that all families don’t have that same priority, it’s excellent the Hyatt Place is making an effort for conservation.
By the time we had access to our new home, little sister was very comfortable at the hotel and wanted to do everything on her own.
Some of our favorite Gilbert, Arizona restaurants and stops are just minutes from the Hyatt Place Phoenix/Gilbert. When you visit make sure you go to Joe’s Farm Grill and The Coffee Shop. Guy Fieri and the rest of the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives recently visited and both eateries have been featured on the Food Network with The Coffee Shop winning Cupcake Wars!
