Some of my earliest memories of sleepovers with my best friends are dancing to New Kids On The Block songs and recording music videos. You can imagine my excitement when earlier this year one of my best teacher friends gave me a ticket to The Package Tour for my birthday. Not only was I going to get to see a few of my very first celebrity crushes, but I was also going to see some of my other favorite boy bands perform too. My friends and I had the best girls night out with New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees, and Boyz II Men last week!
I was so young when my obsession with New Kids On The Block began. My morning routine getting ready for school in the second grade and lasting for a couple of years always started with my New Kids On The Block tape. Jump ahead several years to junior high and I was singing along with Boyz II Men. Then, in high school, like all my BFFs, I was madly in love with Nick Lachey.
Seeing all these boys grown up was so much fun!
The week before the concert, a few of the girls came over to decorate shirts. We all had fun painting our shirts and listening to New Kids On The Block. A few days later we all couldn’t wait for the big night. We rode together and listened to old New Kids On The Block songs on our way to the concert. We arrived with plenty of time to have a fun dinner and chat about our favorite memories of the boy bands we were about to see live.
The concert began with Boyz II Men and I sang along loudly to every single song. I was completely taken back to junior high and loved every second of the performance.
Next up was 98 Degrees. It was my first time seeing Nick Lachey in concert and I honestly was just as excited then as I would have been in high school. Although I wasn’t a lucky girl that was pulled up on stage, I still loved the performance.
Then came New Kids On The Block. They were AMAZING! Every song came with dancing, lights, and smoke on the stage.
After the concert ended, just as any boy band loving group of girls would, we walked over to see the tour buses.
All of us thirty something teachers had to get up early the next day but staying out past midnight on a school night was definitely worth the fun. Our girls night out with New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees, and Boyz II Men was the best!
So fun!
Amazing, no? Here’s the recap of when I went in June…. It’s the 3rd time I’ve seen NKOTB since they made their comeback… and I love the brief moments where I can be a tween girl again.. (but ever so thankful, I get to choose those moments…) http://www.desperatelyseekingsanity.com/2013/06/18/nkotb-recap
