Enjoying Our Holiday Break with Kleenex and a Vudu Movie

We only have a few days left before our holiday break is over and it’s time to get back into our normal school routine.  We’ve had so much fun spending time with family but I really wanted to make our last few days at home together extra special.

I was at Walmart browsing the after holiday clearance section when I had the perfect idea for a fun family night.  As a preschool teacher, stocking up on tissues to return to the classroom in January is important.  I’m constantly looking for the softest tissues for their little noses.  My family prefers Kleenex brand tissues because of the softness.  I personally prefer the brand because it is what we used in my home as I was growing up.  I remember the fun we had turning the used boxes into monster shoes with my brothers.  As I was shopping I noticed the sticker for a Vudu movie credit with the purchase of Kleenex.  I also found some really great patterns that inspired a craft project.  Our family night was sounding like so much fun already!

My mother-in-law gave me an ice cream maker for Christmas and my daughter has been wanting to use it all week.  Our family night was the perfect opportunity to get out the ice cream maker and have some fun.  I found all the ingredients and toppings while shopping at Walmart.

Later that evening after dinner my husband, daughter, and I sat down at our kitchen table to work on our family night craft.  We picked out a couple of fun patterned boxes for our project.

The first step was removing the tissue and cutting the tops off of the boxes.

Next we decorated the boxes with stickers.

I used a pipe cleaner to add a handle to our boxes.  Now we each had a caddy for all of our ice cream toppings and mix ins.

We finished putting our caddies together and then sat them aside to get started on our homemade ice cream.

My daughter was a great helper!  I chopped the candy mix ins while she stirred the ingredients together.

We poured all the ingredients in the ice cream maker and then watched the transformation.

Just 15 minutes later our ice cream was ready for the mix ins.  We made our ice cream sundaes and were ready for a movie.

I peeled the sticker from the Kleenex package and followed the easy instructions to redeem our movie credit.

Accessing Vudu on our Xbox 360 was much easier than I anticipated.  The Vudu icon was already visible when we turned on the Xbox.  We used our Xbox LIVE account information to sign up and download the free Vudu app.  I entered my email address and was ready to select a movie.  We browsed hundreds of movies and decided on ParaNorman.  The credit from the Kleenex purchase covered the entire rental fee for our movie.

We had a such a fun family night and enjoyed one of our last few evenings before the end of holiday break!
