My daughter’s play room has a learning area where we keep a large classroom calendar. My daughter gets excited to add numbers to the calendar, change the days of the week, and discuss the daily weather with me each afternoon. This month our preschool calendar received a little makeover. My daughter has been very excited this week as she has been counting the days to vacation. We are finally on our way to a few days of vacation. Our family is looking forward to the fun we will have in Disneyland and LEGOLAND!
In addition to making vacation related changes to the actual calendar, we have been talking a lot about the letter V this week. Learning “V is for vacation” added to the excitement as we were getting ready for our vacation.
To add the vacation inserts to the calendar and days of the week, I printed the changes onto a large shipping label. The adhesive backing made it easy to stick the labels on pieces we already had for the calendar. In a classroom teachers need plenty of birthday inserts for the calendar but we have not been using them so much at home. I used the extra birthday inserts to add the attractions to the calendar. Instead of making a new insert for the days of the week, I just used the back of Saturday. Princess stickers were perfect for decorating the Disneyland insert.
Today is Wednesday and tomorrow we will be on vacation.
We are spending Thursday at Disneyland and then going to LEGOLAND Friday.
V is for Vacation!
We have a very exciting week ahead.
Do you do anything special on your calendar to note an approaching vacation?
