Teaching Independence | Evening Bath Routine

My daughters are six years apart and so different. Everything from their favorite foods, colors, clothes and personalities are unique in our home. My oldest happily let us do simple tasks for her and did not play independently often. Six years and a much different work situation later, our parenting style changed and little sister is quite the independent kid. She knows what she wants and isn’t shy about telling you how to get it. She tries everything and quickly determines her favorites. Teaching independence has been easy with her because she wants to do everything by herself. As she’s growing, she’s finding more and more that she can do without our hands on assistance and asks for more independence daily. Our evening bath routine with JOHNSON’S® baby bath products from Kroger allows her to continue growing her independence and she proudly proclaims she can do it all by herself because she’s a “big girl!”

JOHNSON’S® baby products are the #1 choice of hospitals and now more gentle than ever. Now with 50% fewer ingredients, that are over 90% naturally derived. They have specifically designed superior care for newborns and are great for infants and toddlers as they grow. The new and improved formulas are different inside and out and absorb quickly. My youngest daughter is able to show us her own bath time independence. Our favorites products for our evening bath routine are JOHNSON’S® Baby Gold Shampoo 400mL, JOHNSON’S® Head-To-Toe Baby Wash 800mL, JOHNSON’S® Bedtime Lotion 400mL and JOHNSON’S® No More Tangles Detangling Spray 295mL.

Little sister thinks she is in charge of the bubbles. But if it were truly up to her our entire bathroom would be full of bubbles overflowing from the tub! The thought of a few bath toys and bubbles have her asking for the bath multiple times a day.

Evening Bath Routine

Baby Wash

The easy pump on JOHNSON’S® Head-To-Toe Baby Wash lets little sister get her own soap during bath time.

Shampoo

After she has wet her own hair I squeeze a small amount of JOHNSON’S® Baby Gold Shampoo in her hand.

She washes her own hair and isn’t afraid of getting soap in her eyes because of the gentle no tears formula and free of parabens, and phthalates.

Pajamas

After rinsing off all those bubbles, she dries herself in a hooded towel and then puts on the pajamas she picked out from her closet. “Bedtime is so 65 millions years ago,” is legitimately how she feels about bedtime! One struggle at a time.

Hair

Next it’s time to comb her hair. We use JOHNSON’S® No More Tangles Detangling Spray and a no tangle brush to help her comb by herself.

I spray on the detangling spray while her hair is still wet.

She uses the no tangle brush to easily comb her own hair.

Lotion

Lastly, little sister rubs JOHNSON’S® Bedtime Lotion on her legs and arms all by herself.

Now we’re ready for bed!

Teaching independence with JOHNSON’S® baby bath products from Kroger stores is a great learning opportunity for your growing toddler or preschooler. We shop at our local Fry’s grocery store and they always have a great selection of JOHNSON’s® products. We have a Fry’s grocery store about five minutes from our home so it’s easy to stop in for our everyday needs. But it’s even better when I find everything I need on the same shopping trip and don’t have to make a return visit. I can pick up everything from groceries and office supplies to baby bath products and seasonal treats. I generally shop with a list and always find everything I’m looking for!

Do you have a special evening routine that helps teach independence too?
