Halloween is a favorite holiday in our home and my oldest daughter looks forward to it for months well before we ever make it to October. We have fun decorating, making costumes and celebrating this great season while starting to see those cooler temperatures make an appearance. For the past five years we have trick or treated with our neighbors in our own neighborhood. Our daughters were just two and three years old the first time we walked the neighborhood together collecting treats and it’s been a holiday tradition ever since. We are moving in just a couple of weeks and our oldest daughter’s primary concern is missing trick or treating with her neighbor bestie. I’m disappointed too but it’s been fun to find ways to make sure this season is extra special before our move. We’re delivering a fun Glow in the Dark BOO Kit to our neighbors this week and already have some extra play time and dinners planned together. We’ve been kicking off the BOO’ing in our neighborhood for years and are so excited to share this fun surprise with neighbors. Learning how to BOO your neighbors is easy and should definitely include favorite candy and American Greetings® supplies from Walmart, a printable “You’ve been BOO’d” card and some extra fun glow in the dark treats like glow in the dark popcorn treat bags and glow in the dark ghost cupcakes.
The free printable BOO card also includes instructions for how to keep the BOO’ing going to BOO other neighbors too. My daughter gets so excited to see BOO kits on neighbors’ doorsteps after we BOO our neighbors early in the season. Last year’s BOO kit was awesome and all our BOO kits have been fun but this year we are making it extra special for neighbors with glow in the dark treats. The glow in the dark treats are also great for handing out to trick or treaters on Halloween night!
Glow in the Dark Popcorn Bags
Ingredients and supplies:
- popcorn
- orange chocolate melts
- thin glow sticks
- treat bags
- bag ties
Melt chocolate and pour over popcorn in casserole dish.
Mix chocolate and popcorn with spoon until chocolate is evenly covering popcorn.
Refrigerate for a few minutes to harden chocolate. Divide chocolate popcorn into treat bags. Pop glow sticks then insert two into each treat bag. Seal with treat bag ties.
Glow in the Dark Ghost Cupcakes
Ingredients and supplies:
- frosted cupcakes
- short glow sticks
- adhesive googly eyes
- white tulle
- treat bag ties
Pop glow sticks and insert upright into top of cupcakes.
Cut 3 x 3″ tulle pieces and layer over top of glow stick. Use treat bag tie to secure and make ghost head. Add two adhesive googly eyes in center of each ghost face.
Give your Glow in the Dark Ghost Cupcakes some extra Halloween yumminess by topping with favorite candies like MILKY WAY® Fun Size and 3 MUSKETEERS® Fun Size. Chop the Fun Size candy into small pieces then top cupcakes before adding your glow in the dark ghost topper.
We used our new DIY glow in the dark yard decoration for the glow in the dark BOO kit too. It stakes into our yard with wooden dowels and also made the perfect topper to our neighbors BOO surprise.
Sharing your favorite Halloween candy is necessary when BOO’ing your neighbors. We printed the BOO card and used a full MARS® Halloween ‘Mummy’ Chocolate/Sugar Fun Size Mixed Bag including SNICKERS® Fun Size, TWIX® Fun Size, MILKY WAY® Fun Size, 3 MUSKETEERS® Fun Size and Starburst® Fun Size for our glow in the dark boo kit.
American Greetings® Halloween supplies were the final touch to our glow in the dark BOO kit. Treat bags, stickers, gift bags and an awesome tri-fold “Happy Halloween” card really pulled it all together.
To assemble the glow in the dark BOO kit, I used a big plastic bowl and a block of floral foam. Insert the DIY glow in the dark yard decoration stakes into the foam then cover with candy.
We used the American Greetings® treat bags to hold the glow in the dark popcorn bags and opened the tri-fold card across the top.
Place on your neighbors doorstep at dusk, ring the doorbell then run.

Those are great Halloween fun and tasty crafts. I usually don’t do much for halloween except give out candy but those are the start of a great party. Maybe this year I will have one.
