Our youngest daughter turned two this month and we celebrated with a hedgehog themed party. Our pet hedgehog, Skittles, was the inspiration for the party but this party featuring the much loved woodland animal would be perfect for any occasion. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since our first birthday mermaid party but that just means we have another reason to celebrate. The hedgehog party was at our home and the Arizona spring weather shared a 90 degree day making it great for a pool party. Our hedgehog party featured printed items from Minted, decor from Oriental Trading and a Shaved Ice party pack from our local Bahama Buck’s.
We had been planning the hedgehog party for months and couldn’t wait to celebrate little sister turning two. Our oldest daughter said her pet hedgehog was excited for the party too.
Little sister woke up so excited for her party day and put on her hedgehog party shirt. I made the shirt by sewing a fleece hedgehog from printed fabric to her shirt then applying an iron on “2”. The purple glitter Expressions Vinyl was cut out with sheared scissors to match the party theme. The morning of the birthday hedgehog party we also had a neighborhood Easter celebration to attend. The birthday girl happily showed her hedgehog shirt to all the animals at the petting zoo.
Little sister took a nap between our neighborhood event and her afternoon birthday party. She woke up to an amazing party and home full of friends. The party table included decorations from Oriental Trading Company (Glitter Winter Tree Cardboard Stand Up, 3D Tree Stump Cardboard Stand Up and Unfinished Wood Slices), Minted Birthday Banner and Framed Art and plenty of treats. Our 20+ Hedgehog Party Ideas included several hedgehog cake options but instead we surprised our party guests with Bahama Buck’s Shaved Ice. The cool treat was perfect for our pool party and meant I didn’t have to spend any time baking a cake.
The Wooded Blooms Banner Bunting matched the hedgehog fleece table backdrop perfectly. I purchased four yards of hedgehog printed fleece from our local fabric store and hung it like curtains behind the hedgehog party table.
A framed Storybook Forest Children’s Art Print added to the table decor and is now hanging in my daughter’s bedroom.
Woodgrain duct tape (affliliate link) made it easy to dress up the cardboard number for the party table. I used the tape to quickly cover the number.
Each guest received a stuffed hedgehog in bags decorated with hedgehog stickers. I cut the tops of brown paper bags with shearing scissors for the hedgehog party treat bags. Each bag was filled with a stackable crayon, hedgehog bouncy ball, thank you card and fleece hedgehog I made with printed fleece.
The Bahama Buck’s Paradise Party Pack™ included everything we needed to replace a birthday cake. We picked up the party pack with a cooler of sno, three bottles of flavors, three bottle spouts, cups, umbrellas, spoons, sno scoop and gloves for serving. We displayed the shaved ice on a shelf covered in the woodgrain tape. Guests loved the shaved ice flavors our oldest daughter had selected – birthday cake, blue bubblegum and cotton candy. Our party pack included sprinkles too.
We displayed the party food with labels I printed at home on my HP Envy courtesy of the #HPSmartMoms ambassador group. During the hedgehog party we snacked on broccoli, fruit wands, jelly beans, pretzel sticks, green gatorade and shaved ice. To display the fruit wands I wrapped foam blocks in the woodgrain duct tape. Wood slices and bowls added to our woodland theme. Use the 4×6″ printable labels for your party:
We sang the birthday song with Bahama Buck’s birthday cake shaved ice and sprinkles.
The shaved ice was a favorite poolside treat for party guests and parents.
Little sister had the best birthday and so much fun at her hedgehog party!
