Our eight year old Siberian Husky, Sophie, is the sweetest and most kind dog. She loves snuggling up to our daughters, kissing their ouchies, and helping find their favorite lost toys. Eight years ago she was the best student in her puppy obedience class and is always on her best behavior when she wants to show off her talents. She’s smart and definitely has established herself as the leader of our pack. She is also a big fan of getting into mischief at every opportunity. This year for Thanksgiving, instead of just hoping she doesn’t try to pull off a turkey dinner heist worthy of appearing in a favorite holiday film, we are giving her rewards for good behavior with a thankful dog treat wreath. The wreath includes some of her favorite PEDIGREE® treats from Walmart. We love our Sophie and want to treat her to a happy Thanksgiving season…even if that means she needs a little encouragement for good behavior!  

My favorite stories about Sophie are also the funniest, like the time she ran out the open front door one minute before we were supposed to leave to my in-laws house for Thanksgiving dinner. We spent the next couple of hours following her around the neighborhood trying to convince her to come home. That was six years ago but if she ever sees the opportunity to run, she will. And sometimes that means she runs away from home only looking back to then run faster when we call her name. More than once she has ran away during a family walk. As imagined we frantically canvas the neighborhood looking for her only to discover her sitting at the front door hours later when we come home defeated and sure she is lost. This dog makes us laugh and brings so much joy to our home so the extra chaos she adds is always worth it. She is certainly a handful some days but a part of our family we are so very thankful for.

Tie your dog’s favorite treats to the wreath with the ribbon. 

Hang it on your wall next to a favorite photo of your dog to remind you of those amazing moments of good behavior. Or to remind you of all the silly mischief you’d rather them not get into Thanksgiving day when you have guests visiting. 

We explained to Sophie that if she behaves she’ll get a special treat. She looks like she is planning to do her best to avoid sticky situations (and “borrowing” people food) this Thanksgiving!

She really enjoys PEDIGREE® DENTASTIX™ so I know we’ll have no challenges reminding her to be on her best behavior when guests arrive.

We’ll be getting ready for Sophie to celebrate the holiday season in our home with the Walmart Stocking Solver but in the meantime, she’ll be enjoying Thanksgiving week on her best behavior with the thankful dog treat wreath.
