Having a busy schedule makes it difficult to schedule appointments. I’m teaching during the day and busy with errands, activities, and other responsibilities well into the evening. I rarely get sick but when I do I have a very challenging time making an appointment to see the doctor. I normally wait until I’m so miserably sick that I absolutely must take time off from work for an appointment. Thanks to my new local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic I’ll be able to make appointments at flexible times that are convenient to my busy schedule. I recently visited a clinic to familiarize myself with the appointment process and was impressed by how easily I will be able to fit in a visit the next time I’m not feeling well.
There are over 370 Walgreens Healthcare Clinics throughout the nation. The clinics are located directly next to the pharmacy so you can get expert healthcare and pick up the medication you need immediately following your appointment.
The Walgreens Healthcare Clinic can address most of your medical need and concerns including services for children over 18 months.
Available services include:
- vaccines
- physicals
- health screenings & testing
- illness, aches, & pains
- minor injuries
- skin conditions
- ongoing health conditions
- medications & treatments
Depending on your medical needs you will see either a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant during your appointment. If you need additional services or medical assistance, you will receive help finding a primary care physician or specialist. You’ll also receive a follow up call 48 hours after your appointment. If necessary the records for your visit will be shared with your primary care physician.
Wait times are usually less than 20 minutes and appointments typically are done in under 20 minutes too. You will likely be done with your entire appointment experience in less than an hour. You can schedule your appointment and view the current wait times for your local clinic online. Walk-ins are also welcome. The touch screen check in makes it easy to see the current wait times at the clinic. The clinics are open 7 days a week with morning, daytime, and evening appointments.
Most insurance plans are accepted and you can verify your coverage prior to your appointment. If you don’t have insurance, the services are priced lower than traditional offices, urgent care facilities,and hospitals.
In addition to the new clinics, you might notice the new look at Walgreens. The aisles are easy to navigate with directional signs and many areas are filled with informational pamphlets relevant to each aisle. I’m confident the next time I need to go to pick up any over the counter medication I will have no trouble finding exactly what I need.
I’m exposed to so many germs working in a preschool classroom. The next time I’m not feeling well instead of stressing over making a doctor’s appointment fit into my busy schedule, I will pay a quick visit to my local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic.

Scheduling an appointment anywhere else and sitting there WAITING for your appointment is such a time and money suck. I get so irritated when I’m dying and have to wait for what seems like an eternity to be seen. This is SO convenient!
