SeaWorld’s Magic Weekends

This year’s spring break visit to SeaWorld San Diego was extra special because we were there during SeaWorld’s Magic Weekends. Every weekend in March features different illusionists and magic themed fun in the park.

The headliner talents perform 25-30 minute shows, included with your park admission, at the Mission Bay Theater in the park. The weekend we visited featured Michael Grandinetti, an illusionist that has also been seen on NBC, Entertainment Tonight, ESPN and more. Our eight year old daughter looked forward to the show for months leading up to her spring break.

We arrived to the Mission Bay Theater early for the best seats.

The indoor air conditioned theater has comfortable seating with great views of the stage.

The impressive show included a wide range of illusions with audience participation. We’ll never know how the three guest volunteers’ rings ended up in a loaf of baked bread or how Michael swapped places with his assistant in the locked Houdini like contraption.

But as Michael instructed at the start to his show, it was a more enjoyable experience not trying to crack the illusion mysteries. Instead we sat back and watched in amazement as he appeared to float above the stage.

Are your children fascinated by illusions too?

    • We’ve only visited the San Diego park but I’m sure they are all awesome. My kids would be very disappointed if we weren’t just a road trip away from SeaWorld!

  2. So cool! I love to watch illusionists but I’ve only ever seen a show on TV. It would be even more impressive to see it live and in person. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  4. It’s interesting to think about going to sea world and watching illusions instead of seeing the creatures! Yet it definitely opens the realm of more things to do! Love the floating picture!

  5. That sounds really fun! We used to have seaworld passes but we just don’t make it to the parks anymore haha. My kids are really into Universal stuff with Harry Potter right now, but my son has a magic set that maybe this could spark his interest.

    • We are also SeaWorld annual pass holders but we visit frequently. This spring break week we also visited Universal Studios because my oldest daughter was so excited about Harry Potter. Such fun!
