Mommy Daughter Nail Fun with Sally Hansen

I love having my nails painted but unfortunately I find it difficult to make time to schedule manicures.  Additionally, biweekly salon manicures are pricey!  Luckily Sally Hansen has some great products that are perfect for my busy schedule.  My four year old daughter loves painting her nails too.  She prefers to paint them herself and sometimes, if we aren’t going anywhere special, I let her paint mine too.  She’s had plenty of practice and is really starting to surprise me by how well my nails look when she’s done.

Yesterday we had some fun painting our nails before meeting friends at the zoo.  We spent an hour in the morning shopping for new polish colors.  I was excited to see the new gel manicure kits.  I was even more excited to see the discounted price by simply using your Walgreens Rewards card!

We came straight home and set up a pretend salon outside in our backyard.  Spring in Arizona has great weather and we try to be outside as much as possible before the summer heat is here. My daughter decided she wanted her nails to look pretty for the zebras at the zoo.  She chose a pink base with black crackle and glitter on top.

She was very patient while I painted her nails.  Then it was my turn.  She was very excited to make a video tutorial while painting my nails.  We had a few practice videos until she was completely satisfied with her tutorial.

My sparkly nails turned out great!

Later I had some fun adding detail to the nails my daughter painted.  I used washi tape to mask off a small triangle on the top corner of my index finger nail.  Then I painted the exposed triangle with a lighter color.  The polish took less than five minutes to dry and I peeled off the tape.  I finished the look by using a toothpick to add blue dots on the line separating the two colors.

I’m not sure if I like this on only one finger or if I should add it to all 10.  What do you think?

Just for fun, watch below to learn about nails and zebras at the zoo.  For only four years old, she does pretty well on camera!
