Multitasking all day as mom and wife and housekeeper while working more than full time from home is not easy. But you’re not ever going to hear me complaining beyond the occasional laughable mom post on Facebook shared alongside a photo of my two year old daughter covered in glue and glitter or feathers or maybe even permanent markers. Over the years I’ve really learned how to give myself the credit deserved and make time for myself. From my kitchen window I can see a perfect spot to unwind for the day with a glass of wine when the sun starts going down over the pool in our backyard. All summer long I’ve been enjoying poolside wine and s’mores at sunset and just because we’re moving closer to fall, I’m not about to give up this sweet evening routine. S’mores are my JaM and even better when paired with Butter Chardonnay and JaM Cabernet. My evening wine and s’mores tips will have you smiling your mom sorrows away for that much needed rest and relaxation too.

Earlier this year I celebrated with some of my favorite moms by hosting a Let Me Butter You Up Mother’s Day Wine Party. We had the best time chatting and sharing long lost childhood stories over favorite glasses of JaM Cellars. For me, the fun with JaM has lasted all year long once I realized how perfect our backyard pool was at sunset with a fire pit.

Friends, a couple bottles of our favorite wine and some yummy s’mores makes for a perfect evening to swap our best toddler mischief stories. Sorry girls, I’ll always win. I have a confident sweet little thing that always finds her way to the biggest messes and complicated dramatic stories. Ask me later about the time she called the Disneyland police from our resort room and told them she was alone and hungry while she was very much not alone or hungry.

JaM Cellars makes three easy-to-love, everyday California wines: Butter Chardonnay, JaM Cabernet and Toast Sparkling. At under $20 a bottle, they’re all perfect for everyday occasions like evening wine and s’mores. You all know we travel to Southern California frequently. So much that it probably would make sense for us to have a second home there. Since we don’t, JaM Cellars at home in Arizona is basically the next best thing – the wine is made in the tradition of great California winemaking—rich, bold and luscious.

Evening Wine and S’mores Tips

Serve wine everyone will love.

Butter Chardonnay and JaM Cabernet are my go to wines to share with guests. The grapes used in the Butter Chardonnay are juicy, ripe and bursting with flavor for a lovely, long, vanilla finish. The Cabernet is all about the fruit with flavors from blackberries, black plums, black currant, cassis and more. It’s aged in a unique blend of new oak that smoothes the wine and adds a lingering touch of vanilla to the finish.

Dress up your s’mores.

When we think of s’mores, it’s the usual graham crackers, marshmallows and that American classic chocolate bar. Every kid should have that experience but that’s not how we do s’mores at our house on wine night. Get creative and offer s’mores combinations with flat marshmallows, Belgian wafers and a mix of your favorite miniature candy bars and chocolate chips.

Use marshmallow roasting sticks.

You’re not 10 years old and neither are your friends. No one wants to find a stick to roast their marshmallows. Invest in some nice stainless steel marshmallow roasting sticks to use for your wine and s’mores evenings.

Indulge.

You’re taking a break so all that calorie counting nonsense stops the second you step onto my pool deck. S’mores are my JaM and they should be yours too…along with a yummy glass of wine, or two.

  1. Oh that lovely wine selection…I am curious about it now! And combining it with Smores…I honestly did not think about that. How clever! I always say wine and chocolate, but yes, why not Wine with Smores! Yum! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Oh, I’m now totally craving smores. I haven’t had them since I was a kid. I have to eat gluten-free, but they make everything needed in gluten-free varieties so that’s no excuse. I’m not familiar with JaM Cellars. But I live in So Cal so should definitely check it out!
