Add Height to Halloween Decor with Books

I don’t have a mantel in my home but I do have fun decorating the top of our piano.  This year for Halloween I was looking to add a little height to some of my decorations.  I went to our bookshelf and pulled out the scariest books I could find.  Aside from some college text books about the psychology of serial killers I ended up with Edgar Allan Poe’s poems, Stephen King’s Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales.  Stacked together they added the perfect height to my Halloween decorations!

Curious what’s on top of the books?  Just a glitter “boo” I found in the Target dollar section last year.

I’m linking this post here.

  1. I do this all the time. It’s one of my favorite decorating tricks. We have that exact same copy of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Funny story – when we got married, we had my friend just get ordained on the internet, no joke, because Joey on Friends did it and it would be funny. The problem was that we didn’t want her up there just holding some random pieces of paper with the ceremony text on it, and no one we knew had a nice enough bible, so we just used that copy of Grimm’s in it’s place. I don’t think anyone noticed…
