The Color Run – Arizona

This weekend was quite the adventure for me.  In college I was in incredible shape and for an entire year, ran eight miles every morning before going to class.  Sadly I never participated in any organized races.  Almost 10 years later, this weekend, I participated in my first 5K.  I had the best time at The Color Run!  We had a large group of Arizona bloggers making up the team “#AZColorBloggers”.  Before the event, most of us made shirts and tutus.  Most of us also had colorful socks to wear.

Brie Brie Blooms, The Color Run (4)Saturday morning we woke up to a cold and raining morning, extremely abnormal weather in Arizona and not very ideal for a fun run.  Luckily weather doesn’t stop The Color Run!  My husband and I added a couple of layers under our run shirts and headed out.

Brie Brie Blooms, The Color Run (7)I met up with my blogging team for some photos before we were covered in color.

Before the run started we weren’t dry but our clothes were very white.

The run was so much fun!  There were four color stations: pink, yellow, orange, and blue.  I didn’t have too much color on me after running through pink and yellow but I was covered in orange and blue by the end.  The volunteers throwing color at the last stations were determined to cover everyone with any white left on their clothes.  I put on my glasses, held my breath, and ran!  I knew closing my mouth and holding my breath was important because I had seen so many other runners with earlier start times walk by with colored teeth.

It was cold and still raining so we walked very quickly back to our car.  We had towels covering the seats and I was very happy to hop right in and turn on the heater!

The rain had us dripping in wet soggy clothes so our entire bodies were covered in color.  I was sure my hands would be blue for weeks!

Brie Brie Blooms, The Color Run (6)To my surprise, a 45 minute shower was all I needed to scrub off all the color.

We had so much fun and will definitely participate again next year.  Check out The Color Run website to determine if the run will be making a stop this year in your state.  You can also follow along on Facebook and Twitter.  Be sure to visit The Color Run Pinterest boards to see fun run pictures and colorful inspiration.

Disclosure: I was asked to participate and received complimentary race bibs but all opinions are my own.
